Possible Work Around for GDA and High School

Just a hypothetical, possible work around for playing both GDA and high school. What if you were rostered to a second level team at the club, but practice/train with the DA team, then be a DP for the alloted 6 games during the fall (you may miss a couple, I think they played 10 before the break).... DA basically has no games during the winter, and you play high school... then go full time DA in February when high school is over... play the remaining 15 or so games, and spring/summer showcase.....

    thoughts? possible?

    yup.
But you'd have to have a very cooperative coach and that is not likely with the lack of commitment to the club -- that is A VERY self serving approach.

You would have had to be a DP from the get go. Once fully rostered, you cannot move down.

Your not helping and only serving to keep the HS zealots foaming at the mouth. Let it go please.

You would not be able to offer this option to many players. There is a minimum number of full time players required. A team cannot have, for example, 10 DP and only 10 full time.

Requirement was 16 full time minimum at both the older age groups. DPs can play 6 games, and then possibly be offered a full time spot on the team. But same goes, not suppose to be able to be a DP and play HS or ODP either - if you could do that why not just keep the full time players? Bottom line Florida clubs should have toed the line with no Highschool option for DA. Life is about choices.

You are all idiots for even entertaining this dribble and for letting the fool who started the thread think he had a worthy idea to begin with.

There are rules around everything. Join GDA late after high school, blah blah. Everyone will see GDA players in high school games. Some will have gotten approval to play the whole season, some will have started yesterday after the regular GDA season ended, others are not planning to come back to GDA in January, some are committed and will not play in the showcase so doing high school, some were DPs and will become full fledged rostered GDA after high school, and others are super studs doing whatever they want with their club bending the rules for only them.

Also, DP's could not be rostered until October 2 this year - they wouldn't be able to play in any of the late August or September games.

Teams are only allowed 5 Dp's for the season and can not play until October. All and all seems like a lot of trouble when they could just play ECNL and do HS soccer if that is that important to them.

If a girl is good enough to play DA chances are they will play in college. With the exception of 8-10 schools around the state. Most high schools are AWFUL at soccer. Maybe as a freshman, but after that it’s a waste of time. Nothing like winning 15-0 at half time.

The only thing HS ball and college have in common is National Signing Day which is important to a lot of kids and parents.
