FC STARS, MI HAWKS, PDA AND MORE ‘ALL-IN’ FOR 2018-19

RICHMOND, VA (April 19, 2018) – The Girls Elite Clubs National League is excited to announce that FC Stars, Michigan Hawks, and PDA will be “All-In” clubs in the league in 2018-19. These clubs place the ECNL as the aspirational training and development environment for all female players within the club, and at the top of their competitive pyramid.

Representing 3 of the most successful clubs in the history of American girls soccer, in both player development and competitive accomplishment, these clubs will join the incredible list of 79 “All-In” clubs across the country in the ECNL in 2018-19, with more still to come.

“The ECNL was created to serve players, coaches, and clubs within a holistic development environment that collaboratively raises standards in all aspects of the game,” said ECNL President Christian Lavers. “We are proud to have so many clubs totally committed to that mission. The ECNL and its member clubs will continue to lead innovation and improvement in youth club soccer, develop the next generation of collegiate stars and national team players, and support the success of US Soccer’s national teams.”

Five core values define the ECNL’s mission to “Raise the Game,” and powerfully drive forward the league’s player-centric philosophy:

    · Innovation through player-centered programming
    · Respect for diversity in style, system and structure
    · Development of the environment and the complete person
    · Opportunity through exposure, showcasing and role modeling
    · Excellence across the youth experience
These values demand that every decision of the league be considered within the perspective of holistic player development, and that every club and technical leader is given a forum to share, collaborate and implement their vision for advancement and evolution of the game and the total player experience.

The Girls ECNL is the nation’s top development and competition platform for female soccer players, with conference competition in six age groups (U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, and U18/19) and unmatched collegiate exposure through the ECNL National Events, the largest collegiate showcases in the country. In addition to the competition platform, the Girls ECNL offers player identification and development opportunities for top players in every conference, unique coaching education and club development programs, and player health and education resources.

    ###

About Girls Elite Clubs National League: The Girls Elite Clubs National League (Girls ECNL) was founded in 2009 to enhance the developmental experience of female youth soccer players in the United States through: (i) improving the competitive environment through creation of a true national competitive league; (ii) improving the process for identifying elite female soccer players through a systematic scouting and identification program based on national competitions; and (iii) improving the daily training environment at top female youth soccer clubs through developing best practices and training and organizational guidelines for its member clubs. The Girls ECNL is sanctioned by US Club Soccer and is sponsored by Nike Soccer.

      Quite a coup by DA.

PDA isn't good. FSA NPL frequently beat them.

The sad part is the kids (and their families) just trying to figure out the best place to play and keep their dreams going. ECNL/NPL was fine for the girls side. Now they went and created the GDA and by trying to mirror the boys side, which was unnecessary, they've created chaos. Out of that disaster some clubs will make more money and some may have issues and in the meantime the kids get screwed. Some kids left good teams, often being counseled that it was for the best and now they're going to be left holding the bag.

USSF was under pressure to pay as much attention to the girls as the boys programs- Remember the whole pay equality thing going on with the National Teams? Why do boys get DA and girls don't?

Women/girls wanted equality and they got it with the GDA. Be careful what you ask for!

PDA isn't good, LOL. Let's see how they do next year.

Yeah that's PDAs third or fourth team. Go get them FS-

GDA obviously needs teams. If they waive all fees for three years and provide a worthwhile sign-on bonus, Celtic will join up. Hate to see GDA fail.

Literally they have nothing else. It's go all in with GDA with uncertainty but some hope of success long term, or go back to NPL and seal their fate.

Huh? If you think that's what drove the decision making, you are lost. Follow the $$$$$$$$$$$$$

You can both be right... no GDA would have led to lawsuits and monetary payouts

Should OW think about dropping entire girl's side and become a high-end boutique boys only club?

C'mon! Someone has to pay for DA on the boys side.

OW should think about investing in good coaches on the girls side at the younger ages, not dropping the entire program.
