Maybe if they schedule them well in advance and the other leagues cooperate with leaving open weekends. Imagine cooperation!

Originally posted by UnregisteredI completely agree it wont be easy. My problem with the earlier post was "USSF and DA won't let this happen" Are there individual clubs that wont take games because they do not want to lose to a rival in another league? Absolutely and just a hint: There are DA Clubs, and ECNL clubs that will not risk losing to rival so will not schedule "crossover" matches. But is they refuse to do so it is not USSF or ECNL to blame, it will be the clubs.

They went for a home run and stuck out and now they look unorganized and desperate makin changing. I tell my daughter all the time to. It let her standards down. This is pethetic and team involved should be embarrassed of the GDA. Should have started small and grew. To fast and furious and got their butts kicked by ECNL in round 1. Round 2. Ding ding.

Now the reality is that NE consists of 6 clubs: BBA, Oakwood, Fury, NYCFC, NYSC and Empire. Empire is pretty poor and really far so it's a double-whammy. NYSC was pretty weak also. Are they going to combine with Atlantic? If they do, that would mean travelling to NJ, PA, DC weekly which doesn't really help make it attractive.
At the end of the day, it goes back to picking the best option based on what is available to you: distance to fields, cost, specific age group coach, team, etc.
There are only losers in this battle so far and that is the players and us parents.

Neither organization deserves any medals, but USSF was the one who decided they needed something new and then pretty much expected that a badge change was all they had to do.

Posts 43 and 44 are spot on. Had USSF done this ten years ago ECNL wouldn't even exist.
Once they felt the need for GDA, USSF knew what it was dealing with but chose to ignore market realities. Families shouldn't get caught up in the league battles. Pick a club near you that has great coaching and fits what your player wants. If they have skills the league doesn't matter, even more so now that GDA has been a partial flop.
