Actually not true. DA hype, ads, footage, coverage and showcases are big time. Problems are that the kids were asked for more sacrifices without anything different in return. Sub rules were not beneficial nor were the exclusivity - DA teams can’t plan in local tourneys in the super group vs other local strong competition and thus local New England colleges have a ton of access.

This sums it up completely. GDA was trying to solve a problem that didn't exist and instead created more issues than it solved. D plays NPL. Has no desire to ever do DA and plays a good HS team. Might consider ECNL, but as of now all her college choices are relatively local, so no need to attend showcases and tournaments outside of NE.

This is more the norm than not, so what exactly did GDA bring to the table? If we want to travel, we move to ECNL. GDA failed. Honestly, the only reason BDA works is because of MLS academies and fully-funded programs. Girls don't have that, so why on earth would USSF expect the same result as BDA?

GDA brings year-round club soccer to those that want to quit HS. Simple.

Again..why on Earth would the ussf expect that would appeal to enough strong affluent players to fill all those rosters? There are some but not many rosters full of such players.

Stars made their decision because it made sense for the club and their players. Not because it makes sense to you or your club. I suspect their decision may put your club in a difficult situation one way or another and that's the real reason for your bitterness.
Idiotic take. Basically if you carry big rosters, you want more games. If you dont want to make decisions about player quality, yes you want more teams. I totally get why Stars did what they did.

            Bitter? Lol get a grip.

Do you think big rosters benefit players? I red JD comments and frankly the interviewer let him off. He should have asked WHY cant you give a player more than 15 mins in a DA game?

Also WHY is it not appropriate to refine the quality of the pool as they age up?

I get why you would not want to lose players, but it just sounds like participation for all. Thats fine, but lets call it what it is.

We seem afraid here of actually making any calls on talent.

Sacrifices are part of life. If it was not different, that because your Club chose to make it the same. Sub rules are fine if you have rosters that are not too big. I get it, but many o f the issues cited are easily solved if you want to. the only one is HS.

Farewell Stars, but this notion that the rest of the league cannot survive is laughable.

Sub rules are fine if you aren't paying $3000/yr for your D to play "Pay2Play" club soccer, ala MLS fully-funded DA. If you're paying to play, then play. If a coach can't find more than 15 minutes in an 80-90 minute match for a player then either the coach made an error in recruiting or can't develop players.

I agree 100% that large rosters benefit clubs' bottom line and not player development, however I also understand that from U15-18, injuries and outside scheduling conflicts can wreck havoc on a roster. Seems the perfect fit is 15, but most clubs seem to want to stuff 18-22.

It appeals to all the girls on my daughter’s DA team. Bye Stars, it’s been real.

Every other club does it this way. Except........the almighty stars. Trust me they won't lose business with way. You know better than that.
There should be a reading comprehension test for this website to keep the B teamers like you out.

That's exactly what it is. And that's exactly what parents don't want to happen.

Whatever status a club can sell, parents want to buy.

You are depriving your kid of a once in a lifetime experience of high school soccer. Playing with friends is so much more rewarding than club soccer. JD and the stars should be applauded for seeing sanity at last. Your kids will resent being pushed by you out of this special opportunity.

Is this sarcasm? You're giving JD more credit than he deserves. Stars doesn't believe what you just posted.

How far have the Stars fallen? U18s get embarrassed by Breakers DA 9-0 then the "real" team, the ecnl team fights back to tie the pathetic Scorpions tonight 4-4.
