Shelton has a tough game tonight at Mercy but should get the win. Shelton will be a tough team to deal with in states.
Hand would like to get a win tonight at home against Amity. Not sure if Amity is any good or just plays an easy schedule. Only tough teams they played were Shelton and Newtown and they lost both.
Cheshire could use a win vs. Sheehan
Odds
Shelton by 2
Hand at home even money
Cheshire at Sheehan Cheshire by 1

Daniel Hand is having an off year. Graduated a deep senior class. Very unorganized this year but have one the most dangerous forwards in the conference. Having seen Cheshire they should have more wins. Very physical and also have a very good attacking player up top. Guilford could be the wild card. Seem to have figured in the home stretch, always good to find your grove late in the season.
The LL schools aren't a huge threat to make noise in the tournament but the L schools could do very well.

Daniel Hand last year was the perfect example. Lots of very good athletes (mainly Lax) kids that battled every week. HS soccer isn't the beautiful game. Having rugged physical seniors usually wins games. If you have the luxury of talented player or two to mix in with the athletes that can be the formula!

Also, by that time the town premier program's kids will start filtering in and it'll be very interesting to see if that whole thing is a success or failure.
They might get some decent coaching but the level of competition is very poor and in the end the players simply cannot handle pressure at older ages. Movement off of the ball, quick decision making, a clean first touch in a tight spot are all things that players pick up when they play in a fast, competitive environment with other very strong players. if the town is holding all of their players in a town sponsored premier program it won't end well. The top few kids need to get out and play against better talent. Top club players typically do very well in high school because the game moves slowly for them. They have time on ball which is a luxury they don't get in club games. Town premier kids can never have the same success.
Town premier is for JV players at a LL high school.

A bunch of Dads get together and try to create their own thing. Typically one of them played two years of D2 ball and wears Manchester United shirts so they become an authority.
Town premier is convenient and saves money. No question. The issue becomes when the top few kids get talked into staying on those squads. They never maximize their potential and ultimately the town's high school soccer program suffers.
How many town premier kids are All Conference, All state or recruited for even low level colleges?

Shelton lost 2-0. Our girls marched right down their middle. Stripped the mids and beat the CBs. Our girls certainly weren’t handled easily. Mercy team to beat in SCCs. Nice try though.

Mercy’s coach more than likely replayed and watched the first game against Shelton and figured out their strengths and weaknesses and made adjustments in their attack. The Shelton coach is incapable of such obvious coaching techniques. He will be their undoing. He always is.
