Number of Soccer Players: Croatia 118,316 vs. FYSA 105,000

Croatia's number includes adults and pros. FYSA is only kids. Why is Croatia so much better?

It's not about how many athletes we have or dollars we throw at soccer. Its about lack of culture, poor leadership, and poor coaching

Florida, Texas, Arizona and California together should be able to field a World Cup team with the culture. It does exist. Even without the U.S. in the World Cup the TV ratings show soccer has arrived in America’s culture. More kids play soccer than basketball or football.

Culture is only one part. I agree it's there in a small subset. It's more about talent identification and development. USSF doesn't know what it's doing.

Our governing body of soccer is letting big youth clubs govern DA and ECNL and it is costing parents, player development and our future national teams success.

Soccer has been part of European culture for more than one hundred years.

California is larger than Spain by size and population. How many professional soccer teams are there in California and how many are there in Spain? That's called soccer culture.

They care about teaching the game not making money.

I think that is it. How many of us want our kids and their teams to get high quality soccer instruction?

I think the original poster is saying that the state of Florida should try to qualify for the World Cup. Too many players in the US to ever get one squad together...
