    1. Fight the fights you can win - this model won't change
    2. The kids LIKE traveling for games on weekends, the further the better. They love planes
    3. You don't have to do it, you can play town travel and be just fine. Or HS instead of DA
    4. Train close, travel where you need to for games - its a model that WILL thrive with you or without you.

I dont disagree with any of your statements at all. I just say that that model "works" to run a good soccer business, not to find and develop great soccer players.

I've been reading through this thread and it almost seems like different parents/different kids have different situationsn& needs that make a single riggt-for-everyone solution impossible.

Can it be that different things work best for different people?

Of course. But if the very high fees and way too much travel thing does not work for enough people, some of these teams are not going to survive.

if these high priced teams could justify the costs that would be something, but most have no real training facility and/or unqualified trainers/not enough trainers. the funding should come from the USSF and apportioned to clubs who offer consistent quality training and as such groom high level players. these clubs should be scouted and vetted. bet ya people wont complain about travel if they didn't have to shell out so much money upfront. I bet ya youd acquire the cream of the crop when it comes to players...it would make the playing field easier for those who can't afford these high priced clubs so they stay playing town clubs...the more exclusive it is, the more people want it.

Are all the LI GDA teams fully rostered?
Someone posted on the Larry board that Fc Fury and ASC Fury DAhad open practices/ tryouts?
                Is this more misinformation?

Thank you. Were the players they were looking for to fill out the backend of the rosters or players who can contribute.

You never know with them. They will tell you one thing, and then completely do the other. Caveat Emptor...

Absurd question. Of course clubs WANT players who can contribute. But this late in the game at a weak club they'll take whoever can write a check.

do you think the clubs previously mentioned are "weak"?

so is everyone's team fully rostered at this point? when are the clubs required to submit their rosters for the approaching season?

For EDP you can fill out the roster card literally minutes before the first game.

With NYCSL you need to send in the rosters for approval at least a few days before the first game.

It's not like LIJSL where you had to have cards in hand at team registration.

There is no difference between NYCSL and EDP you can adjust rosters right befire gametime as quick as you can print it out and drive to field.

Downside to LIJSL try adding a player to roster and getting a player pass in less than three days unheard of....no worries they will mail it to you or you can come pick it up in 2 or 3 days in ronkonkoma...same process last twenty years...
