No, those players were skilled before joining his program, all he had to do was give them playing time with the big boys to get experience. Everyone and even most of the players Dislike him because it’s not that he’s honest, he’s honestly a d0uche who may seem nice and honest to parents/fans/media but he really is not as a role model as some may think he is.

He may say you have to “earn it” to get playing time, but he’s always recruiting outsiders to take the other players role and does not give two sh1ts about you once he has his people to suck up on and the same goes for his staff. Why else did AD left? He recruits big players For the physicality of playing D1 but now look where they are now. You could be having the greatest season in UCONN history but if Reid finds someone better from outside, you better start packing your bags.
Forget soccer for a second. Is he an ambassador to UCONN?

UConn men’s soccer Head Coach Ray Reid once again showed his commitment to the program and the university by donating $250,000 according to a press release by the University of Connecticut Athletics.

"UConn has changed me both personally and professionally and I wanted to do my part to help," Reid said in the press release.

Reid previously donated $100,000 in 2014 to help build The Rizza Family Soccer Complex, which will replace Joseph Morrone Stadium.

        You couldn’t be more wrong!

I played for Ray, and he is one of the best coaches I’ve had. He is tough, but he is always honest with you. Kids today are so sheltered from reality, his abrasive approach might upset some people.

I would think 95% of college coaches would bite your hand off to have Rays coaching record.

Where are all the posts as of late about how bad the program is and how bad RR is? Or do we only pile on when they are losing and keep quiet when they are not? I'm a neutral party but someone should be eating crow with their record of 5-2-1.

What you are hearing is sound of silence and ambivalence for a once proud, nationally significant soccer program

They won one and tied one in a weak American Athletic Conference no need crow about those wins. They should win those games.

                Here’s the facts Mr Neutral

                - they Lost most of their meaningful out of conference games to ranked opponents
                - not ranked in top 25 or even received any votes
                - only way they are getting into NCAA is to win AAC season

5-2-1 is 5-2-1. It's better than they fared in previous few seasons with similar opponents.

Not really. If wins were against quality they would be ranked

The UCONN men’s program was in decline for many years before Coach Reid took over. Coach Morrone was no longer running a national program and the best collegiate team in CT in the late 80’s and early 90’s was SCSU. Bob Dikranian built that program and handed it off to Reid who continued that excellence. Lot of people were upset when Donovan did not get the job, however, Reid transformed moribund program and won a national title within a few years of taking over. Since then he has consistently been a winner. He is definitely abrasive and full of confidence. Lot of people can’t handle that.

lots of people wanted him to go to UCONN. Especially the people at SLU. They hated him there. Just check the blogs. They couldn't wait for him to leave. Awful recruiting in particular. Not that he's tearing it up at Rutgers either. That being said, Reid needs to go.

Ray Reid is no longer running a national program either. They aren’t even the best regional team in New England or NY Metro. Maybe number 9 or 10 in region

                                - They have missed tournament for two years in row. Could be three this year
                                - Aren’t nationally ranked
                                - Haven’t beaten a ranked team
                                - Not producing pro players at same rate
