    Synopsis:
According to various unsubstantiated rumors, this fall, the teams that finished in the top four over every age group of NEP PREMIERSHIP, would be promoted into a separate "team" NPL bracket in The New England NPL league. They would play each other, and some crossover games with the other permanent NPL teams that are currently already there. However, at the end of the season (not sure if that means fall or spring, or both), the bottom two teams in the NPL "team" bracket would be relegated back to NEP for the following season, and two new top NEP teams would take their place. The promotion and relegation system would only be with the NPL team bracket, whereas the the other NPL "club" bracket would remain the same as it has, with clubs holding the licenses and staying put without promo/relegation.

And to answer your specific question about the 04 teams getting promoted, yes those other teams are also moving up into the NPL into this "team" bracket with FCUSA. Just expect that two of them will be gone and relegated after next season, and will have to earn their way back up.
Since ECNL and NPL are both US Club entitles why don't they create a team based ECNL division just like they are doing with NEP teams going to a team based NPL.

It would be nice, but since there are two NPL leagues in this area with serious local club politics involved with each, especially with the ECNL licenses, it will never happen.

NPL might not have a choice but to consolidate - with DA and ECNL now for boys and girls they'll be a distant #3. To stay relevant some reorganizing could help

Any truth to the reports that ECNL and NPL are possibly merging next year?

No idea but that would be progress. Imagine actually one less league instead of one more?

Highly doubtful. That would that mean NEFC/BBA and other clubs locked out of ECNL would now have to be allowed in the mix. And if not, where would all those New England NPL teams go?

I like the idea though. Let the DA teams remain very limited with further travel and for the top of the pyramid/soccer only top talent. Never really mixes with any other leagues, etc. ECNL and both NPL's could merge into one for the go to top regional league for most clubs (second team for the few DA clubs). Keep the travel closer to what the New England NPL does now, but keep the showcase aspect that ECNL uses. One team here per licensed club, (but ensure that all of New England is covered) to keep it Elite. Many clubs will definitely have to combine/shuffle rosters a bit, with the bottom of roster players being pushed back down to NEP teams. And NEP teams making up the rest of the teams. Fold in the NSL teams here too. So much more streamlined...

LETS DREAM A DREAM A BIT SHALL WE:

DA - National League - limited to a few teams per area of the country, with much longer travel, but only for much more serious NT/High D1 prospects playing. Love to see this go residential in future too. Plays only each other and utilizes one big annual showcase. No Promo/relegation.

ECNL/NPL hybrid "ECNPL"- Becomes the destination spot for most of the rest of the top soccer talent looking at mid to lower D1 (and below) college soccer. Top multi-sport soccer players who don't want to commit to DA can find a good fit here too. Break country down into more and smaller regions, with these teams playing league games only within their region, like New England NPL does currently, but hold big showcases like ECNL does that brings a few of the regions together (like New England/Mid South/Southeast). No Promo/relegation.

NEP (swallows NSL teams too) - Stays local like it does now and broken down into multiple divisions per age group, with promo/relegation between the divisions.

This will never ever happen, but it's fun to dream.

Love, but I think the regional showcase is a waste of time and money, at least for boys.

Why? Why have players and coaches from the east coast go to the west coast to date? Lots of stats showing most kids (75% or so) attend school within a half days drive from home.

Wouldn't this be nice. Like the layout.
If ECNL and NPL bury the hatchet, wouldn't the above just fall into place?
