Zero defections from CU ECNL.
Three defections from FCP ECNL (2 benchwarmers and one starter).
Nine girls who either opted not to try out for academy again or who got cut.
This proves what I suspected all along. The fee is irrelevant. If you are poor, $2000 is out of reach. Heck, a $125 tryout fee is out of reach. If you can afford it, $2000 is not enough of a bargain to justify leaving a team where you are happy. Parents won't sacrifice their kid's happiness to save a few bucks.
If the academy system truly cared about making ultra-elite soccer accessible to all regardless of ability to pay, they would have concentrated on the much younger ages and made it free. Start at u11 with something like the US Soccer training - free to all who are selected. And build ages up from there so in 6-7 years you have the oldest high school teams.
The issue is, academy didn't truly care about making soccer accessible to poor kids (especially thorns charging $125 just to step on the girls). Their goal is clear - to run ECNL out of business. Not off to a good start.

This may come as a surprise to some, but not everyone wants to play soccer for their high schools. Some HS have lousy programs with terribly weak training and player pools which translates to sloppy thug-ball. So while it may be fun for some to play fall HS Soccer, there are many serious players that would rather do without and spend that time doing quality training.

Nothing really changed. GDA didn't do any better job of consolidating the top players in the state than FCP and CU did. If anything they made things worse by further diluting talent.

F.C p and CU were the big losers in all of this.. Tehir horrible teams didn't get any better or get any new Talent but that's to be expected when the USDA program comes around the local clubs will not get any better. The emergence of a DA program cripples the local youth clubs and here's another example...

They would have to replace entire rosters..dissolve FC or CU and then hope MP sells Timbers/ thorns and the new ownership wants nothing to do with USDA in the Portland Market and then be able to attract all of the best players form one team maybe then they could have a chance to compete regionally or nationally this trend with the DA in town will only help strengthen the DA and hurt the local clubs it's already been proven on the boys side.

I would say the DA would have been a success if the girls who have been to national camp(s) would have made the move. However the top NorCal clubs are staying ECNL and the top local Oregon girls are staying ECNL.

2 also ran clubs are still avoiding O.Y.S.A. with so many top tier clubs selected for the USDA perhaps the two clubs can combine for a goal of 5 wins between them.
