Some clubs have to be leaving ECNL for GDAP only. Is EM one?

Interesting article from the boys side: soccer and school.

Could this catch on for boys and girls?

            On a roll lol

Article says GDA will focus on technical skills and tactics, and will encourage "playing up" to assist development.

Related to this and the LA Galaxy article - the best solution in my mind is to make DA a much smaller program focused on the top 2%. Focus on 10 top metros and have a residency/school program like Galaxy and Philly Union and linked into the MLS teams in those markets. USSF supplements the costs and sends out more on scouts and works with the top leagues to scour the country for talent. Let the rest of the very good soccer players play in ECNL or whatever leagues, still play good soccer, get recruited to good colleges, play HS soccer. They're not NT or pro material and that's fine; in fact it's just reality. If the leagues and USSF work together the few players that are will get discovered and put into a more rigorous program that will better challenge them. This country's emphasis on education/school sports combined with our vast geography means we need to do something different. You can't be everything to everybody. DA has too many clubs and too many players for what it supposed to be achieving.

Are they the only GDA that will be free?

Great that there's a few free GDA programs out there, but they will be even fewer than on the boys side. I'd be amazed if there's more than 10 nationwide. In the meantime three more clubs have pulled out of GDA since being accepted - MatchFit and two CA clubs. Seems once they started to date they realized they didn't want to be hitched to the GDA wagon

Galaxy one of 4 new GDAs added. It's on the USSF website.

A few others have dropped out as well. While there are some top notch lcubs in, there are others that aren't the greatest and more likely were added to fill out regions. Here's the direct link to the most recent list. Note some of the regions have really awful travel distances

Kudos to Galaxy for giving free DAP to the girls. They didn't need too. Also found it interesting that they have a GDA team in San Diego. Wonder what that will do to Surf

So much for GDA being less expensive than ECNL - with all that travel?!
