Chelsea Piers Connecticut Announces New Soccer Club Partnership

Chelsea Piers Connecticut is pleased to announce the establishment of a partnership between the Chelsea Piers Soccer Club and Shoreline FC. Starting in the 2020-2021 season, the two clubs will play together as Chelsea Piers Shoreline Soccer Club (CPSSC). The new club will be led by David Flower from Chelsea Piers and Danny Simpson from Shoreline.

Both clubs will work together to form one of the strongest youth soccer clubs in Connecticut for both boys and girls. Utilizing each other’s resources, CPSC and Shoreline share the goal to stay on the cutting edge and focus on offering the best pathway for youth soccer.

Chelsea Piers Soccer Club (CPSC), led by David Flower, was founded in 2013. David Flower comes with over two decades of coaching experience and leadership. Through his years of winning a CT State title with Westhill High School and transforming them into an FCIAC powerhouse, as well as selecting and coaching the best players in the state to compete in the Elite Clubs National League, he has helped dozens of athletes achieve their goals of playing collegiate soccer. Dave is currently the girls head coach at Greenwich Country Day School.

Shoreline FC is a premier soccer club based out of Greenwich, CT, founded and directed by Danny Simpson. After spending over 20 years coaching youth soccer in the US and UK, Danny opened Shoreline in 2012. Since then, Shoreline has had many team successes including 8-state titles, one national title, and has grown to over 17 teams with 183 title wins. Over the years, Danny has nurtured many players from youth through high school to help get recruited to play soccer collegiately. He won 4-FCIAC titles with Greenwich High School and is currently the boys head coach at Brunswick.

“We are all incredibly excited to be coaching and working alongside Danny. We believe he will be an incredible asset for our athletes,” stated David Flower, Director of Coaching and now Co-Director of CPSSC. “Chelsea Piers Soccer Club desires and deserves the best competitive level and by combining our efforts with Shoreline FC we believe we will greatly increase the opportunities for every one of the players and teams within our clubs.”

“The one thing Shoreline has been missing, at some level, is a true home, making this a great opportunity for the two to join forces,” says Danny Simpson, founder and director of Shoreline FC and now Co-Director of CPSSC.

Peak club soccer in the rear view mirror. Now, too many clubs, chasing too few players. Watch for more consolidations and even some club closures.

Brilliant insight. More like, business as usual for the CT soccer landscape...

Shoreline Greenwich wasn't that bad - but I guess that doesn't fit your narrative.

Yes, it started last year. Lots of GCDS and Brunswick kids on both programs, particularly Shoreline already.

Shoreline is a horrendous scam. DS took entire teams, even at the C level travel and convinced unknowing wealthy parents they had 'premiere' level players. Combined multiple teams to get two decent teams in 10 years. Claiming the bumpy grass field, long ball to the one superstar and paid trips to England were top notch. Kids who left Shoreline went on to get D1 scholarships while kids who stayed could say they won the SuperY and hope to get into D3. Not a D1 player came out of that program. I was one of the suckers.
Girls were even more a joke. Pay to play at GHS. Once the kick and run athletic game no longer won at the HS level and coaching mattered GHS fell off the table.
