I suspect all college showcases in May (including ECNL NJ) will be announcing their cancellations any day now. Return to play probably won’t happen until at least August.

It’s over, we’re on to fall.

Not sure how the ECNL NJ Showcase won’t be cancelled now. Michigan already cancelled summer sports camps.

With some states cancelling school for the rest of the year it's really tough to justify youth sports starting up in May, let alone having an event that requires multi state travel

Without knowing if college fall season will be cancelled because schools decide to remain online, recruiting is going to be really messed up. Especially if college seniors are granted an extra year. This will have a huge impact on recruiting numbers for 21s and 22s. If this continues a lot of Hs players are going to quit.

High school players generally don't need to worry about recruiting.

You can only quit something that’s running. If this is around in the fall, there won’t be a HS or college soccer season. Add if the economy gets really bad, athletics will be the first thing cut.

Not many college kids would stick around just to play. If you're done with your degree why would you? Even more so if you're paying anything? If tthe fall season is canceled then its really the non recruited 21s who are messed up. Many programs would probably make do with the players they had recruited and hope to fill in others later. 22s would be late but ok.

Anyway, if it's still bad enough that colleges can't reopen in the fall, sports will be th least of our worries.

College soccer players are generally fairly intelligent and come from upper middle class families. They don't get much scholarship money. They go on to decent jobs. Rarely do they have a shot at the professional ranks. They aren't staying around to play more soccer unless grad school at the same institution is in the cards. I think 21s will be just fine though they'll probably commit later than most classes normally do.

Most athletes have to apply EA or ED. That means the last ( very last) offers are wrapped up early fall of senior year. If there's no showcases this spring (looking more likely) and no summer ID events, the opportunities to get seen are gone. One of my children's colleges already said no campus classes or programs except med and nursing students.
