    Academy

Do the Timbers really need to use the same coaches for ALL age groups in Academy? Why do they have to be so cheap, or is it just a big joke? For example, they have retired players who work in the organizations but do not coach. Didn't Gerrard retire and now is an academy coach at Liverpool? You would think that the Timbers would want to do the same thing. I'm not against the current academy coaches, but maybe there should be more focus on an age group with these coaches for development purposes. Or is it that the Timbers don't care about development, and would rather continue to buy their talent? Therefore, they invest the minimal amount to have an "academy".

They invest very little $$ for youth staff coaches, it's well known and evidenced by who is on staff. They spend nearly a couple million $$ each year for girls/boys youth academy travel, lodging, transportation and field space with lights. It's a bummer they can't get all cylinders clicking for the MLS/NWSL DA. But it does cost more to hire quality trainers, cheap coaches without experience are at least getting 'experience'.

At this level, "coach" should be a full-time job. If the staff of an MLS team are supplementing their income with personal-training gigs on the side, that's a problem.

It's like a country in which the cops are paid a sh1t wage, and then everyone wonders why they take bribes.

Way too much politics. Everything has to run through GW. With his ego, he does not want anyone in the organization who is better than him. This is why the Timbers will always be mediocre at best.

It's much more lucrative to do personal training for rich kids, giving them hope that they'll "make it" if they pay more for little Johnny's training than little Jose's dad makes in a year.

The TA are already offering spots to players for next years ‘06, ‘05’s and ‘04’s. These guys work quick

Is Timbers going to directly hire all of the DA Academy coaches or will any of them continue to be funded through private foundations paid for by player parents ( hence why they cannot coach games and are not listed on Timbers youth coaching website)
Some families told there was no coach acknowledged because of no A license but you don’t need an A license to be listed here http://port.ussoccerda.com/club-staff

'06s? Have they offered spots? Have they even done anything with that age?

Who will pay for the 06 TA? Malfoy doesn't have a little brother at that age...

they are selecting 06 players for the upcoming GA cup--and most likely ending up in TA after GA.

04 & 05 are currently having number of players from local clubs and out of state club to practice to prep for try-out in May.

They are taking a 2006 team to Dallas Cup next week. Yeah, they have been doing stuff with this age group.

PTFC 06 will be playing in the Generation Adidas Cup in Dallas, not the Dallas Cup.

GA cup is one week before Dallas Cup, and Dallas Cup doesn't have a U12 division.

Did they finalize the roster for GA?

I hope so, because there is a long lead time for plane tickets over spring break....
