No it isn't. And who are they going to play, especially the top teams? There isn't much good competition out there. All this does is essentially create A and B leagues. If you're B, you're not playing to top teams which is the whole point of doing DA.

It's essential simply so we can verify that they are the top league.

Remember what happened to English soccer back in the 1950s. They assumed, as the inventors of football, that they were always and forevermore the best and ignored tactical innovations from abroad. English club teams wouldn't bother with international tournaments--viewing such things as second-rate. "Why cast our pearls before swine?" was the thought.

Then Hungary visited Wembley in 1953--and thrashed the English 6-3. Next year they played a rematch in Budapest--which Hungary won 7-1.

ANY team or league that asserts "we are ispo facto the best; we don't need to prove it against anyone else" is fooling themselves. And most DA coaches know this--a big complaint has long been that DA regulations and schedules make it hard to play in mixed competitions, other than a few select "approved" tournaments like Surf. And be honest--a lot of the local DA teams routinely ignore the DA rules anyway.

Specific to 05 DA: It says here that most of OYSA Premier would thrash Eastside's DA; and teams like Cuervos or 4H or Bend FC Timbers would rather easily whip BSC or Capitol. Cuervos would probably give Crossfire trouble (Westside is probably a better matchup against Cuervos, even though Crossfire took 3 out of 4 from Westside--just how matchups work, I guess).
