Look at that.... It comes down to petty jealousy. It's usually WST when we start seeing these kind of sad personal attacks.

Those very few girls are the only ones who should truly play competitively, by your logic. Come to think of it, you are probably right. All the rest are just filling club coffers and will be going nowhere fast with soccer. All the rest of us should just make our own school year based league & leave club. Saving all that cash would be a nice chunk for college too!

If you can't even compete with them you might as well attack them anonymously (of course) on the intardnet.
TA this, ECNL that, WCDA, FWRL, Academy, ODP, "National Camp"...
One of the earlier posters was right, few players from Oregon will be good enough for soccer to be meaningful to them. Even if there is scholarship money available, what's it going to be? 1/2 scholarship to UP?
The cost of all these youth program is getting crazy. There are no monies put back into the system from alumni that made it pro. There are few real corporate sponsorship.
But parents are told they have to pay to go to play the better competition so they can get college visibility - all while no real work is put into developing the players ability.
How about refocusing on the kids instead of the damn program?
Teams that are good enough qualify to play the next level, not just an arbitrary selection of clubs and leagues.

You're making wrong assumptions. Go out and watch different club practices. People love to say no one focuses on development. The reality is all clubs do. They just focus on different areas for development and some are better than others. Though the last part varies more by coach than club to be honest.
The real divide in Oregon is sadly the Timbers. The anymosity between clubs was nothing remotely this bad before they poisoned the environment.

My point is that competitive soccer (Ecnl or club)in Oregon is so weak that it is ALL only really worth it for about 5 players/age group. The rest are being scammed by the clubs. Give us your $$$ and we'll pretend your daughter has a shot at more than Portland State. This is true for Ecnl AND regular club.

He cares about himself and his pay and if by chance it does something good for youth soccer, then so be it.

Let's shut all the clubs down and go back to red soccer. It's so obvious!!
You're impressively stupid.
