    AC Connecticut

    http://talking-soccer.com/TS4/showth...=150430&page=5

Starting a new AC CT thread to separate from CFC Chelsea thread

    Basic AC CT themes

    1. good value
    2. A solid start to its history
    3. Uneven performances... Poor performances from younger teams. Stronger on older teams
    4. Ineffective management
    5. Future of the club

    Start Talking ...

    Why?

There's not much here to talk about. Just another club in CT.

I think CFC Chelsea will have problems fielding quality boys teams.

They are definitely off to a good start. Their 04 boys team looks strong despite very poor performance against top CT teams. Absolutely crushed by CT Rush Elise and CFC united yet rattled off wins against these Out of state teams:

BUFC (MD) #5 state; #147 national
QUICKSTRIKE FC (NYE) #11; #211 national
        ATLETICO FC (NYE) # 2; #33 national

They placed 1st in their NYCSL Metropolitan League division.

A 3-3 draw against SUSA ELITE FC (NYE) #3; #57 national.

Seems to be a very talented club to me.

          Yet they can't beat Rush?

Go easy, they only lost 9-0.

That does seem like a weird one-off given their overall recrod, did pretty well in NYCSL.

Very inconsistent results to say the least. What is surprising is how badly they were beat by CT Rush Elite and CFC United. They lost to CFC 4-0 and lost to CT Rush Elite 9-0.

Must have been the refs fault. Probably like when they lost 4-0 to CFCU and 3-2 to BS's vaunted premier team. But they did beat Sporting!

Their oldest teams were/are their best. Last year's U18s won top EDP division - as U19s this year they're more of a mixed bag but probably a bunch are in college now from the old team. This year's U17s (00) probably their strongest - tied for 2nd in their EDP bracket, won EDP Cup and Manahattan, lost to FSA in PK's, won USCS state (beating CFCU) and went 1-1-1 at nationals, tied the team that won the whole thing. There's another 00 team that played some CJSA and won that state cup; didn't do so great in regionals. 01's did CJSA elite and EDP with mixed results. Younger teams area also all over. I heard they've had a few go to BS and a few BS players went to them.

Seems like if you're not in the DA sphere they could be a good option, depending on coaching etc. Three years old and they have quite a few teams. Not bad at all in this hyper- competitive market. Let's see where they take it from here. Lots of club start off great than falter (Revolution a good example)

They also tied CT Rush Southwest.

3-2 is not indicative of anything. 4-0 not good. You almost never see 9-0 games. I've see that Rush team - not THAT good lol. No GK or something else weird was going on perhaps. Still one team and certainly not one game is indicative of a club over all

Yes their older teams are the ones that migrated over from CFC ... even some of the 2000 had history with CFC. The question outstanding is whether they maintain that success with younger teams. Those teams that are formed organically as opposed to acquisition is the true testament to club vitality

Well said. It will be interesting if at the younger ages they can attract good talent, develop the talent and subsequently be able to keep the talent.
