So the boys DA is free? and the girls DA is 'pay for play'? How do they get away with that?
Wait I have a great idea, this is America, don't join NYCFC Girls DA. Problem solved.

Do you think if your town travel program offered soccer for free to boys, and charged the girls that would be OK?

Boys DA fees used to be below $2K. They had no choice but to raise fees to support the costs of GDA. They had to keep NPL really low just to try and attract players - very few are left on those teams and I'm not sure they will survive long term.

As has been said there is no obligation for MLS clubs to even participate in GDA let alone charge nothing for it. Don't like it, don't go there. Your kid probably wouldn't even have made the squad, but that's neither here nor there.

What does my kid have to do with this? You are losing the argument. Keep it classy.

They are a Men's professional soccer team.

If any of the below ever come close to parity then you might have a point

                  1. The number of colleges that offer men's soccer aren't equal to the women's.
                  2. The number of men's fully funded soccer scholarships arent equal to the women's

HS Soccer at OW last year was $1,200 for boys and girls teams. SUBSTANTIALLY!!! The U-Littles were mostly $2100 or less. SUBSTANTIALLY!!!

The reason NYCFC is entering girls DA (voluntarily) is that they are exploring launching a women's team in the NWSL. Manchester City is the blueprint.

                        You're no too smart eh?

First off, Oakwood doesn't have "HS soccer" boys teams. Secondly, the increase in price for the HS aged girls teams is because they added AN ENTIRE SEASON, THE FALL!

                        Hellooooooooo!!!

Poster probably just mis-named. DA boys were much cheaper before; other prices up as well with the exception of the girls npl teams they have on life support

Crackhead Democrat, this is not town travel. This is a professionally coached team. Should you expect for free? Wake up.

Also, the MLS teams are trying to develop home grown players to benefit their own teams (or own bottom line if they can somehow profit off of them). That's their incentive to run free programs. NYCFC isn't a women's team. Maybe they have something someday, but they don't now. Running programs costs MLS clubs a great deal of money. Most spend in the $2-$3M range and many as high as $4M. You only do that if you see a payout at the end. Even if they started a women's team, women's pro soccer can barely afford to pay its meager salaries.
