I don't think that losing led to the departure of BQ. From 2010 to 2015, UB went 54-44-6, including 10-7 in 2015, BQ's last year.

New Canaan is running turf over all of the remaining living things in town. I am guessing those fields will open up again for some club.

Yes old news and is not convenient for probably half it's base (who have to return up county in rush hour traffic. It also puts them in closer competition for players with NY clubs. Most importantly, it signals a facility is not happening any time soon
