Both teams have a few talented players who should be elsewhere.

Nah, the westside coaches aren’t very good at coaching or recruiting . I’ve seen and experienced both. Kids go there because of location convenience for the parents.
I’ve heard the goalie program is decent but I haven’t seen their goalies doing that well in matches so who knows

One interesting question about local U12 DA soccer: according to the USSDA rules and such, at U12 teams are supposed to have rosters of 22+ players and divide into TWO squads for weekend fixtures, with each club playing 2 U12 games (individual players will only play in one game or the other).
In other parts of the country, this is common. Here in the Oregon DA, nobody does this--the biggest U12 roster is 13 players. Up north, Crossfire Premier has a double-size U12 roster, but many other clubs do not.
Anyone know why?

It’s a crime if you ask me. The only way to build an 11v11 team at U13 is to have a roster of 26 with fluid player movement

There is not enough talent to have two rosters worth of DA kids here. The drop off of skill from players 1-5 to the rest of the roster on all these teams is HUGE

Clubs don’t train the top 26 kids correctly.
There’s not enough players in Iceland and Holland either.

It’s already annoying enough my kid is being held back/ down by the bottom half
his roster in practice.
There simply isn’t the talent here in Portland as other areas in the nation where they have 2 teams per little DA
