      Another Midweek Game

Duke hosts Louisville Thursday at 7PM.

      Duke is 5-1-1/Louisville is 5-2

So this should be an even match, right?

This shows how easy it is to get a good ACC record these days. The Cards have not beaten any top tier teams, yet they have 5 wins. Of course I doubted them last week against WF and they won. Let’s see what they can do here.

Easy to get a good record? ACC is split nto two tiers. The top teams rend to play each other and vice versa. Then games are rotated basis frequency. It depends where you are. Louisville, BC are in tier 2 but on the rise. Thats why you get this happening. Wake have been crushed by a brutal schedule. Eg playing UVA at Klockner, a totally different game vs playing them at home. UVA are still good on the road, but their field is huge and helps them spread you out and pass you off the field. The "weaker" teams have a really hard time packing it in and defending there.

so in summary, it can be easy, but only if you are a team on the rise as the weaker ones are on the wane AND you get key games @ home.

the cream of the ACC is good every year.

and btw, the same statement made about BC is met with all sorts of righteous indignation and comments about hate. Funny that

Louisville’s men soccer played the top tier ACC on even footing when they joined the conference. Great coach who starred at Duke. The women’s team started off in the cellar, but is slowly working its way up. Not surprising; their AD is committed to all their programs. Now academics is another matter.

What warrants penn moving up having not played princeton yet? Lost to nc state, best umbc, univ del, towson, cornell, nt st mary's.
Only played 12 games. Seems like a pretty weak schedule.

They are even in the only thing that matters, the Ivy standings. Remember though, Penn has 10 wins to Harvard’s 6, with an RPI of 64 to Harvard’s 143. That is supposed to account for strength of schedule. Penn isn’t going anywhere. They have to run the same Ivy gauntlet as Harvard.

I understand. But I am just questioning the strength of schedule. The schedule was not strong except 1 or 2 games, hence the record. This is the randomness of the rpi. Reminds me of the college football ranking system of yrs past. Rock, paper, scissors like.

more than 2 tough games but yes kind of weak overall yet sitting at 64. In front of teams that did play tough schedules. Mind blowing. And colleges use this for recruiting like it is fair and has merit.
