Why no OYSA schedule after 2/18?

Seriously? Not posting scores in a timely manner is one thing but get the league schedule from Feb. 18th posted already! It's Feb.12th! If teams haven't given you fields by now, they should have to forfeit. No excuse for this.

Team managers got them yesterday and have until tomorrow to review them. Should be live and posted by Thursday. And I totally agree clubs should forfeit home games for failing to meet deadlines.

Should've posted live by last Thursday. Managers, please send out the tentative schedule so the paying customers get an idea of their upcoming schedules. League was shortened to 10 games. There is no reason not to get the entire schedule out within one week of league games starting. No wonder soccer is flailing in our state.

The delay was due to 12 clubs not having their field availability in on time.

Thanks OYSA staffer for the reply. Please tell your higher ups that the appropriate response to 12 clubs missing a deadline would be to take away their home games. As opposed to making thousands of families wait for them to get their act together.

That assumes the clubs who do have field availability provided can host more home games and are willing to do so. Remember that many clubs have to rent field time, and extra home games = extra expenses.

Make them forfeit those home games then. No consequences means they'll always be late. Also, maybe move up the deadline yo earlier. At the least, the 12 clubs that are late, should forfeit the chance to look over the game schedule now.

Not an OYSA staffer, there was an email sent by the league to team reps.

Do Ecnl or Academy get their schedules out in a timely manner? Yes. Slacker clubs should have to forfeit games. And why give them days to look over the schedules? The schedule should be live by now, shouldn't it?

OYSA gave the league operations to the Timbers, whonare smart. Timbers make mistakes and public blames OYSA. Timbers take the money, public asks OYSA why they don’t reinvest in the game.

Until Timbers are out of making money at youth soccer, we will get what we have always gotten. Overpriced, underserved. And plane flights to Burlingame.

And 7 were not Timbers clubs. If true, almost every club was late. Obviously timelines weren't enforced. Give penalties for being late and clubs won't be late. Our club is losing players right and left, especially females. Two more quit yesterday. Social events and other activities are important to many of these players. Players and parents get tired of not being able to plan a single thing and then missing out because soccer schedules are so late. When those girls grow up and have children they wont put their children in soccer. It's a bigger problem than just a league schedule being late. Timbers should realize this and take steps to grow the game, not lose players and fan base for reasons that are completely avoidable.

Most clubs around here don't own their own facilities, and instead have to rent fields from the local parks or school district. Some of these (ahem THPRD) give rec soccer priority over classic. There's also uncertainty over the weather (you all remember the chaos caused by last year's wild winter), competition from other sports (lacrosse, baseball, etc--more than a few soccer fields are located in the outfield of a baseball diamond, and only need to have the goals removed to be configured for baseball).

Not every field owner/operator gives a rip about OYSA league schedules...
