She went pro for media not for soccer. She’s moving to Thorns GDA team to get away from the better competition in her old Cal South GDA team. Move her to a little muddy pond to make the media blitz shiny. Feel bad for the little girl with the media over substance crazy parents. Also feel sorry for current Thorns Academy players.

I'd never wish an ill will on anyone, especially a child, but statistically the odds are not in her favor. This is not likely to end well.

She's also walking away from a scholarship to take a few bucks from Nike. Stupid move. Let her continue to develop and see where's she at when she's 17.

Ask her about HS? She is 13 and she shouldn’t have deep analysis to provide about life decisions. Hopefully their are adults close to this situation with some perspective. Doubtfull—-
She's homeschooled so I am quite sure playing high school is off her radar. Hope she looks back and can say she enjoyed her childhood. Unlikely.

Parents are obviously wealthy enough to take care of her forever and don’t care about college education anyway. She is already being homeschooled because they consider school a distraction from 24/7 soccer and much less important than media exposure. It’s all about the media and becoming media-famous. Sad for the girl to be another Todd Marinovich. If it was about the soccer, she stays in southern cal! The news article said she’d literally be playing for the last place Portland Thorns Academy in the weak Northwest division. Stupidest move to take her out of Beach GDA, unless it’s about media exposure and removing her from proximity to many equal and better players so the gig will be up. Feel really bad for the kid.

Talk about an investment in the women's pro game. Good to be an elite Oregonian girl these days. Incredible stuff.
Big whoop. Virtually no otherGDA programs are funded or even help with travel. GDA is ECNL 2.0 with more restrictions. What's funny is ECNL modelled itself after BDA. USSF chose not t do GDA years ago. Now they're trying to make their mark but it may actually be worse than what they're trying to emulate

                  2019-20 FULLY FUNDED!!

Thorns and US Soccer are moving the game forward for girls/women.

It's great to call Portland Oregon HOME!!

                  Unbelievable!

Nike & Thorns feature one of their DA players at Halftime of the SuperBowl and a multi year professional contract. All the makings of a stunt.

Publicity stunts are located at US Club Soccer and their social media mantras it's truly so funny:

                    #NoCeiling
                    #RaiseTheGame

Tough to raise the game hit the ceiling in this bottomless pit of hashtag nonsene while actual players are getting paid and moving on.

To each their own. It is pretty sad but, like a relative that makes bad choices you just have to let them make their own mistakes.

It is sad. A thirteen year old kid. But hey maybe she wants to leave sunny California for rainy Portland. Maybe she doesn't really have friends that she wants to stay with.

Portland soccer is pretty low quality but if you are just a sideshow attraction it doesn't really matter where you are.

A lot happens between 13 and 18. Puberty. Boyfriends. Body changes.

Someone brought up Todd Marinovich. Can't help but see the parallels.

Thanks for the laugh! Apples and Oranges. Fully funded professional club academy has not any peer in Oregon club landscape, as it should be.

Well, expect maybe recreational HS soccer, right?
How would she know anything about HS.

She is home schooled. Hope it works out for her in soccer.

Very sad. She was actually pretty good but the adults have reduced her to a wealthy sideshow.

She’ll be on 60 Minutes in 10 years talking about her regrets. It’s sad but she’s 12 and old enough to make decisions that will affect her life.

Solo, Wambach..etc. Booze partying and hard drugs hurt them. Marinovich did hard time as I recall.

As a parent you can’t blame yourself.
