They take bench players and turn them into starters? That’s not development, that’s not having players and they are good enough to start for the thorns.

Here is an alternative force JV II HS level players to travel in the HS off season with the neighborhood club and call it exposure.

Spreading the stench across the states.

Not a big fan of exposure in this case.

Sucker Parents love to Travel, even if it's harmful to the kid.

Why so bitter? They were a bench player when they started at Thorns too. But after a year they started playing a lot more and one more year later they are starting and playing all game. They are getting better from the Thorns training and being rewarded. Isn’t that development?

What does that have to do with showcasing and traveling on the parents dime? Come On!

Sure seems mean to be putting down kids just because they aren’t as good. What if they are trying their best? Shouldn’t we continue to encourage them?

It's not like they are having to pay for travel, geez. That's adding insult to injury.

Not allowing high school really hurts recruiting.

Also I think TA clubs aren’t recommending Thorns Academy because there is nothing in it for them. Do they want their best players to leave the club? No. Plus the Thorns don’t provide anything in return that I know of. No coaching training, no referral fees. Nothing. So you think a DOC is going to recommend the Thorns? They can usually provide a better experience, at least they think.

Most kids who stay at homegrown TA clubs seem happier with their decisions. Thorns are all free agents so out for themselves.

Yeah why in the world would a director of coaching recommend the Thorns Academy? You can get just as good of training anywhere else I would imagine.

Not really sure what the point of the timbers alliance. Do those clubs get anything from the timbers?

Same can be said at THUSC, LOSC & WUSC they have no cause to recommend the CU US Club league offering. There is nothing in it for their club, ThUSC members/coaches/players left in droves due to this push. It's not about the local club offering something better than CU, neither offers anything different than the other, except CU does offer the exorbanant cost of worthless travel, which alone keeps at their club of Origin. Stupidity doesn't last forever. Folks are wising up on this front.

The NWSL Thorns DA has nothing to do with any local clubs, it's a professional teams youth academy and opinions vary of course, but unlike local clubs, they do subsidize it significantly which is a remarkable achievement for a female sport. More power to them.

                            Did you have a point?

They *Did* subsidize it significantly. Fees still not posted for this year. Rumor from current parents is subsidies are being phased out.

Today they invest hundreds of thousands of dollars on just their girls Development Academy, what they do in the future is unknown.

The last 2 years they have invested over a million dollars in our local girls.

Can't say that about any neighborhood club. Which is telling.
