This way the big clubs would not be politically squeezing out the other clubs and only choosing it's own kids for YNT's or other events. That is the problem. The politics. If they figure out how to keep the politics to a minimum, then the product will flourish.
DA needs to fix many issues on the girls side and the first is to realize that the GDA and BDA should be different. ECNL is a better model for the large majority of high school aged players.

Issues that need to be addressed are no HS allowed, substitution rules and not working with ECNL to make a better overall product for the girls. USSDA arrogance has been hurting the overall product. A real shame.

The US has lost it's factory jobs. All sent overseas. They have been replaced by soccer jobs. We/the US is the new China for soccer jobs. What a joke!

Not it isn't - it largely worked but has some weaknesses. USSF had to muck up by trying to take over rather than working with what was there and trying to fix it. Worse they copied a model that has gotten the men's side nowhere in nearly ten years. I would have given them more credibility if they'd thought outside the box.

Hahaha did you see the U20's loose to Mexico in the Concacaf finals? The U17 WC fails were also picked for U20 team (surprise, surprise). Guess what? fail. one missed a wide open net another two missed their pk's. but we're getting better right? new coach, new ideas right? hahaha, no. same players, same result.

truth be told, these kids were picked from their ECNL days as were the other U17 WC fails. not saying GDA is the answer, but clearly the political picks in all the leagues needs to stop. at least when ODP was king/queen, US Soccer was consistent and successful on the national stage.

I give zero relevance to the recent Sr NT/US vs Denmark game. Denmark beat itself with it's multiple errors. US didn't cause them like they did in years past. Tennis anyone?

Lost on PKs in finals. So no catastrophe.

To really develop, US Soccer needs residential camps for their best of the best. Until then they will be behind other countries in men and on par with women. Other countries have caught up with the women. This has to be acknowledged. Playing kick and run GDA soccer does not develop. They can do that in ECNL or NPL.

I really just do not see significant differences between the two. And why would there be?
They are both based on the boys DA model. They both require a large budget, lots of travel to games and showcased, and are located in the same markets with a few exceptions. I would expect similar results.

unlike the guys, the girls teams started toward the top of the soccer food chain. the guys were always playing catch up.

not OP - the difference I see for now is that the goal for the top players is different. BDA is (or should) be for kids looking to play professional soccer whereas GDA is more about college soccer placements.

Yes, the NTs are part of it but considering the # of participants and the few roster spots it is silly to construct leagues primarily for that absurdly small pool of players.

Not comparing the male players to the females. Comparing the two female leagues to each other.

Us soccer did not initially start a development academy for girls when they did for boys. Ecnl started their own development academy style league. Now, years later, us soccer has implemented the gda but the ecnl is already in existence. Would have solved this problem if they had just done the gda are the same time as the bda.

Exactly what Bruce Arena said too when they played the T&T 2 team. no catastrophe, we have this.

They needed to leave ODP alone. It was the development academy platform by bringing in different kids from different clubs and seeing who could rise to the top. They became the Region teams. Great coaches; great experiences. But ECNL took away from ODP. And now GDA is taking from all.

That seems like it was a better model talent id wise. Not the best model for extracting maximum dollars out of players bank accounts so not the american way.

the boys side is very different as they have fully funded development academies for mls academies.

Actually, in some states they do a good job separating parents from their money i.e. NJ.

True. But ecnl and gda are masters of the art.
