Some U18 girls teams only fielded 8-9 players this past weekend because of ACTS and Proms which helped some teams get results that they wouldn't have gotten playing a full team.

My daughter plays for OCYS Purple and we played Team Boca White with 8 players and lost 3-0. The game next to us was TBU Premier that had 8 players and lost 3-0 as well to Brev Blue.

Parents allow this to happen. Gonna be tough to pull this crap in college (that's if they play in college).

If they have already committed to a school and are locked in - then they have a choice to make between playing in state cup with their team or going to the Prom. Prom is a big deal to many people, especially for girls in their senior year of high school who have already missed many events with friends in order to play tournaments or travel to showcases. As long as they were upfront with their coach and team about their decision - I won't fault them for making that decision.

If they are already committed, they should be even more concerned about their teammates who may not be committed. In our situation, if the coach knew and didn't inform the team, then he/she should be fired. Respect has to go both ways.

But you made the committment to play the whole year at U18s. Why screw the team and make them play shorthanded, have parents drive all over the State, and not field a full squad. Very disrespectful. But that is how you raise your kids I guess...
