No one says you cannot do it from smaller clubs, but much tougher road and much rarer. Also, for those rare ones in the middle of no where, hard to tell where they could of gone with the proper exposure. ODP used to provide a great option for these players, however, that is changing as well.

You can still play D1 and not have to play on ECNL. You can guest at top showcase tournaments, you can go to ID camps, you can still make up highlight videos.
