Some decided to train into early December and start up again in late February. By doing that, they avoid paying higher field rates which indoor facilities need to get. Don't be surprised to see more of that across the board. It's about making money.

That’s a pretty good plan. Jan is going to be a Covid and flu and weather mess. Triple practices come end of Feb and for now just go sledding, or skiing.

Not sure why some of the clubs who can’t secure indoor space don’t continue to train outdoors most days especially on weekends are still mild and above freezing. Bayside does it all winter.

Easy to do in the warm and sunny south ... of New England.

Seriously, though, I think it's working fine right now, with no snow on the ground and moderate temperatures. Definitely worth a shot.

Some clubs either haven't thought about doing it, or can't cope with practices that might or might not happen. May be tough for some clubs to have that arrangement with their coaches. Takes a lot of flexibility and TBH an extra level of commitment on the coaches' part.

Clubs with outdoor fields (Stars/NEFC) are now doing it. You will see more and more take less indoor turf time over the coming years as renting through indoor facilities as much more expensive than renting a turf field outdoors in late February.

Fine if you have access to turf fields - your own or rented. Not every club does and it's in high demand this winter because of Covid. Grass is too soggy, will get ripped up and should be rested in the winter regardless.

Well maybe the clubs in RI can rent from Bayside. It would be the nice thing to do to help one another during the pandemic. But yes it is warmer down in RI.
Northern MA is a different story. FC Stars has some outdoor practices but man it can get cold at night.

Wish Bayside had more than just one turf field. It's always fully booked with Bayside teams. Otherwise, I'm sure they would love to make some money off of it from other clubs. Hopefully, when the new EP high school and their fields are finished, Bayside can work something out with them. Then they can really push to grow. Otherwise, hopefully PC opens up their campus and use to their fields to Bayside again, after Covid is in the rear view mirror. The club is bursting at the seams this year with just the one turf field.

even if Bayside had fields to rent when their teams arent practicing they aren't renting them out to any of their competitors. They need to be king of RI !!

Good luck finding an empty time slot.

Correct. Do people seriously think everybody isn’t playing as normal?

Until you get the call/email that states your player has been in direct contact with someone who tested positive

Its already happened to clubs and teams. Guess what ? They quarantine and then keep playing.
