    ECNL/GA - Spring 2021 Solutions

So my understanding of the current travel guidelines is Mass teams cannot travel out of state to play and out-of-state teams cannot come into Mass to play. If that is incorrect, please let me know.

If that's still the case come March, the ECNL and GA teams are in a tough spot with just 2 ECNL clubs and 2 GA clubs in Massachusetts. Seems it would make the most sense to create a one season only division for these teams to play each other, no? Each of the 4 clubs have an existing relationship with NEP so maybe NEP could host this division?

Division would include Stars National Blue, Stars National White, Scorpions National, Select GA and NEFC GA. Just not sure where the ECNL Regional teams would play.

Any other possible solutions? My hope is that we can avoid a discussion into whether the guideline are fair, proper, non-sensical, an over-reaction, etc... Simply, if these are the guidelines clubs will be forced to play under, what are the best options in the short-term?

No one is planning anything in the hopes things are better and there can be a kind of a normal season. Very unlikely you'd get any cross league cooperation even if things stay MA only. I think come March things will look different

It looks like ECNL has cancelled anything on the schedule before mid-march. Guessing they front load the games that are playable (in-state) and look to schedule the questionable games for late April thru June. Things should be normalizing at that point.

Nothing cancelled. That’s the usual start of the season.

Too early to guess what things will look like 3-4 months out, but doubtful things will be looking anything close to normal by spring. People are getting their hopes up on the vaccine news, but too few will be vaccinated by then to see a difference.

Agree... will end up being another wasted season... let’s hope we get some refunds.

For league games yes. And by March I do think case numbers will look better and maybe some of the interstate restrictions get lifted. It won't be a "nromal" spring but pretty close to it.

Showcases are another question. As of now Sanford (January) is still on, but it seems like many teams aren't going so maybe that gets cancelled or postponed. There's another in TX in February, AZ April (both good for West Coast teams) and two in May on the East Coast (NJ and SC). Perhaps TX gets scrapped and all the west coast teams do April? May shouldn't be a problem at all for here. I know planning large events take a good deal of planning, but at the same time so many other events are scrapped maybe they can reconfigure the schedules?

NCAA blackout was extended to April 1. We'll see if they extend it once again. These Jan/Feb and even March showcases and tournaments are almost worthless unless you are looking at D3... sure D1 coaches want to see video, but on one is making a decision based purely on video.

Whole thread on the showcase topic. Nothing is being scrapped.
Every eligible team that can go to FL is going. Plans also remain for standard travel to AZ.

concept of an intrastate informal league would be fun

Probably wouldn't need the NEP. Could just be scrimmages set up between the clubs. That said, it would take the setting aside of a bunch of egos for this to work.

And? no one cares or follows college soccer outside of the players, families, staff and few fans with very very few exceptions. don't fret about it because no one else is.
