      Curfews but not cancelled

Ok sports were not cancelled in MA. Baker is imposing a curfew. So as long as your sports end by 9:30 it’s ok.

Early Closure of Businesses and Activities: Governor Baker issued a new executive order that requires the early closure of certain businesses and activities each night at 9:30 PM. The 9:30 PM closure requirement is aligned with the Stay At Home Advisory and together the two new initiatives are designed to further limit activities that could lead to COVID-19 transmission.

Effective November 6, the following businesses and activities must close to the public each day between the hours of 9:30 PM and 5:00 AM.
      – Restaurants (in-person dining must cease at 9:30 PM, although takeout and delivery may continue for food and non-alcoholic beverages, but not alcohol)

      – Liquor stores and other retail establishments that sell alcohol must cease alcohol sales at 9:30 PM (but may continue to sell other products)
      – Adult-use marijuana sales must cease at 9:30 PM (not including medical marijuana)
      – Indoor & outdoor events
      – Theaters/movie theaters (including drive-in movie theaters), and performance venues (indoor and outdoor)
      – Youth and adult amateur sports activities
      – Golf facilities
      – Recreational boating and boating businesses
      – Outdoor recreational experiences
      – Casinos and horse tracks/simulcast facilities
      – Driving and flight schools
      – Zoos, botanical gardens, wildlife reserves, nature centers
      – Close contact personal services (such as hair and nail salons)
      – Gyms, Fitness Centers and Health Clubs
      – Indoor and outdoor pools
      – Museums

Because you know.... putting in a curfew when very few people are out makes sense. Dumb asses... why can't someone with half a brain and a rudimentary knowledge of individual rights win an election. Are we going to do this every flu season now?

Agreed. And while we do have plenty ignorant SOBs they aren't the majority. They just happen to make up the majority of the GOP. Decades of dumbing down America has served the GOP well. That and a 24/7 diet of FOX have gotten them into a brainwashed state of existence.

One thing Covid has shown is that

-there's plenty of stupid mother f ers out there
            - there plenty of selfish mother f ers out there

^ no they're not the majority but there's enough of them to ruin it for all. B

Less restrictive than the old blue laws.
Other than bars, doesn’t hurt any one’s business
              Sounds more like riot prevention

Deaths have been decreasing since 8/1. The media is hyping up the amount of cases and giving average and not real numbers. Also the total deaths have been dropping most likely due to elder the larger amount of elder people who died of coral virus that probably would have died a few months later of their illness. The national average for the past 3 years is about 3,000,000 people die before we started counting COVID-19 deaths. We are actually on tract to be statistically the same as the past 3 years. Think about that one for a moment.

Totally hurts business what are you talking about. You're restricted on the number of people in a restaurant and now you have to close earlier. This will hurt those that have struggled to stay open

They've been decreasing because cases were decreasing. Deaths usually lag about a month. With US cases shooting up mid October, look for deaths to follow mid to late November

                            According to CDC's own information:

*Data during recent weeks are incomplete because of the lag in time between when the death occurred and when the death certificate is completed, submitted to NCHS and processed for reporting purposes.

Try other sites which try to give estimates closer to current, for example:

                            https://covidtracking.com/data/charts/us-daily-deaths
                            https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...-us-cases.html

Look at where deaths are at relative to new cases from about a month ago, and look what's up ahead.

Averages are computed from real numbers.

First, do you agree there is a surge going on or not?

If you agree there is, then look at the death rates in the four countries you named. Spain has had slightly more per capita deaths (775/1 M) than the U.S. (715), followed by the U.K (689) and France (573).

                                Germany is way ahead (129).

                                Why isn't Germany our example?

Some other places are doing even better. Australia (35), Japan (14), and South Korea (9) come to mind.

Why don't we compare ourselves to those countries?
