Seems the police chief and mayor agree with the poster

Are you certain the other officer knew it was the taser and not his partners gun?

You make a lot of assumptions. Some day, I hope you come face to face with a guy in an ally that has the stones to punch a cop and take his taser out of his belt.

I have been drunk a lot, never have I thought about fighting a cop and taking his weapon or taser and trying to shoot him with it.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he had a violent police record. This isn’t the police rolling up on a black business man or college student or innocent black man protesting for his civil rights and shooting him.

Speaking of 400 years...I don't fully agree with her (especially about the looting) but it illustrates how the anger isn't just about police brutality against blacks. You can still be empathetic without agreeing with their methods.

Notice how there was no looting after this death at the hands of the police.

Is it really about police brutality or is about a single race?

Tasers are NOT lethal weapons. Cops have been saying so for years. So that don’t hold water. It was a homicide pure and simple. Law in GA requires there to have been an imminent threat and there was not.

Going to be a lot of convictions of police upcoming. Does GA have death penalty? As many know I oppose that so I would recommend these cops get life without parole and be housed in the general population of course. They should have many years to contemplate their crimes.

true they are not considered a lethal weapon but people do die every year from them, so they can kill you
the threat to the officer was to be disabled ,which a taser will certainly do, and then he could be killed

this is a bad fight for you that cop will be reinstated and sue for damages- he may never be a cop again but he wont have to

                        Nope sorry ....

When the cops use a taser criminally (and there are many instances of police using them to literally to torture citizens ) they hide behind the “taser isn’t a lethal
Weapon” defense. Like the atty for the Brooks family said, police can no longer have it both ways.

Besides, law in GA makes use of force illegal. Guy was running away and not a lethal threat.

Sorry cons. Old 🐕 don’t hunt no mo.’

There were two cops there. They knew the guy didn't have a weapon on him. Tasers can be lethal (below) BUT the weapon is not a lethal weapon in GA or probably any other state. Firing a shot in the air should have been the go to - you hear a shot going off while a cop tells you to freeze? Chances are you'll stop in your tracks, drunk or not

"But some are using a weapon that has potential to kill: the Taser. When those encounters have turned fatal, black people make up a disproportionate share of those who die, according to a Reuters analysis.

Reuters documented 1,081 cases through the end of 2018 in which people died after being shocked by police with a Taser, the vast majority of them after 2000. At least 32% of those who died were black, and at least 29% were white. African-Americans make up 14% of the U.S. population, and non-Hispanic whites 60%."

240 blacks killed by cops on average per year

7500 blacks killed by other blacks on average per year.

And, oh by the way. The vast majority of those blacks killed by cops were committing violent crimes while armed.

The vast majority of those blacks killed by other blacks were gang and drug related.
