Given most rosters will be smaller for awhile (due to players who deferred this year) committing now is not only a good idea, but it's a normal timelines for most top half soccer programs and players. The rest fill in later in the spring and summer, stragglers in the fall.
Yes a coach can walk away as well but many do not. There's no legal obligation until you sign your NLI November senior year. Players should never burn bridges just in case something goes wrong. But if a school gives you a solid offer and you want that school, go right ahead.

If you take a differentoffer make sure to notifythe others immediately. Don't ghost anyone or burn bridges - things can happen and you might need that coach again in a year .

Agree with most of this. However I'm not sure if all rosters will be smaller because of Covid. Most fall seasons have been pushed to spring. Patriot League is playing 6 games...this will remove the 5th year of eligibility for the seniors.
The recruiting class for 2022 will be competitive due to the kids that are doing a PG year or went to a school they didn't want to go to due to Covid and they will transfer after their first year.

A growing list of 2022 players has to be tough for the 2021 players yet to commit because of covid. They got blindsided by a perfect storm in 2020.
