The issue is poor training and lack of a clear pathway. We have ECNL/ECRL fighting with GA (formerly DA) and USYS merging with EDP while NPL is still around. You want to talk about over saturation it's with leagues not clubs. Players shouldn't have to drive 2hrs one way to be on an ECNL team.

If you compare the land area on the ecnl map of club distribution of southern Ca, with what we have in the Northeast, it would be about the same as CT, PA, NY and NJ put together. I am sure you can find an ecnl club for your kid if it is such a priority for you.

Maybe it’s because most parents have already been a part of all the clubs watering down talent. The ego check on coaches is destroying development especially in the Shore. PDA south had a valid argument to get in because there is a lot of talent in south to create very competitive teams for the ECNL. If Matchfit North is in the bottom half of the standings year after year it would be interesting for them to be able to create a powerhouse especially with their shore technical director in charge & that being a criteria. But who knows....
Because, it's a tired discussion and no reason to push getting in ECNL anyway. Perfectly happy where we are. So, best of luck to all clubs and teams and leagues and players. Enjoy the game, and my you reach your goals.

It take me almost an hour just to get to PDA South and would take almost 3 to get to North. So since PDA South moved up to ECNL SJ players would have to drive 1.5-2hrs one way just to practice. Now how many families in SJ have a free parent to do this?

Plenty of families, not sure if you noticed but most PDA families are loaded with $ and can afford the to and from.

Rule #1: check out the cars at practices
Rule #2: check out plastic surgeries
Rule #3: check out butlers, nannies and personal drivers

You are behind the times. It's not called "plastic surgery" any longer. It's elective physical adjustments.

What does $ have to do with being able to have the TIME, or wanting to spend hours in a car to get to practice? Are they taking a helicopter? Do rich people have 50 hours in a day and the rest of us peons only have 24?

When you have money and can chauffeur your child to and from practices, hire trainers for the in-between days, build a 70 yard wide by 30 yard upper third of soccer field on your estate with full sized goal, then with the money yes, they just bought themselves extra hours.

So now you PDA haters new thing is that anyone who plays for PDA is privileged. What “chips” you people carry on your shoulders. Go look at the most recent PDA commitment list. You think all these players have committed to these colleges/universities because they live privileged lives? By the way there are plenty of players who receive scholarship aid from the club. The fact that you pick this idea of elitism as being the reason of who plays for this club says everything about your self.

Dots on a map is what you go by? You can travel an hour to an hour and a half in just about any direction in Southern CA and get to an ECNL club.

since my kid plays for PDA I can certify it to be true.

Um...ECNL is not a location. If it took you less than an hour to get to PDA South before, then it would still take you less than an hour to get there now. Why would it take longer for SJ players to get to practice at PDA South than it did before?
