One of many to follow, just the beginning of the en masse cancelations. But club soccer just humming along without a care in the world. Amazing how much business gets in the way of common sense sometimes.

Many colleges and universities are planning to allow only a limited number of student on campus for the fall (some will be completely remote). These schools can’t allow student athletes to live on campus and tell regular students (still paying full tuition) that they can’t. Even if they did that and college conferences go to an “in-league only” model, there are still issues related to travel—a bus trip that would have required 1 bus before, now requires 3 for social distancing—all of this costs the schools more money.
Club soccer does not have these issues.

We had game on Sat and no one was wearing masks on sidelines, or coaches, bench players etc. on the field business as usual close contact all over the place. If you’re going to have that then might as well open everything up, I don’t see how close contact in field is ok for club soccer, but not for other activities (sports or not) that involve close contact.

The point I am making is that even though it is a horrible virus, long contagious period, and long duration if you are infected, AND show symptoms, we have no vaccine (and might never have one), there is no GOOD remedy, and if you are under the age of 65 and healthy, far less likely to kill you. We can social distance forever, or like EPL, be cognizant of social distance and good hygiene, and get back to living a semi-normal life.
I am not panicking. Let’s see how EDP Summer League plays out.
