What is going on at WPI? First losing to Clark and now at a weak Wentworth?

Interesting to note that unlike d1, the heavy concentration of schools in the Northeast.
Are there d3 in other parts of the country?

There seems to be a few California schools, Texas but most are east of the Mississippi

No, not that many high ranked D3 schools out West which is why you will get high quality players travelling across the country to go to the NE. NESCAC is also nice because all the schools are concentrated in one area.

Been watching some of NESCAC and UAA teams with my kid who is looking at schools. Why the mass substitutions? We have seen a few coaches do this. Not something I have seen in D1 play but more typical in high school where they try to give play time and make parents happy. Don't coaches ultimately want to win? It changes the flow of the game as play quality declines and we saw it backfire on one team who ended up giving up a win. Any impact player on a club team will play all or most of the game so it cannot be to give players a breather. Are some rosters too big?

In what I've seen coaches could care less if parents are happy. The teams that substitute in that manner seem to look to get fresh legs on the field. The high ranked teams also often have a lot of depth. So there isn't always much drop off.

Brandeis might be the team to beat

It is the Anson Dorrance approach to soccer. Basically it is fastbreak basketball applied to soccer. It creates a war of attrition that usually the team with the greater depth wins. Dorrance recruits tremendous talent but is finding less and less success with this approach with each passing year because the other programs he is typically competing against are becoming more technical and sophisticated. It's not the 90's anymore.

I think they have improved this year but I would still give the edge to Williams at this point of the season

It was the battle of the underperforming teams last night. Both WPI and Roger Williams are usually in New England Top-10 contention but both have had a horrific start to their season.

WPI came out on top 6-3 in a game which appeared to be heavily impacted by the weather.

RW have no conceded 5 (twice), 6, and 7 in games this season!

Maybe it is Coach Moody's rather than Coach Schafer's job that might be up for grabs come the end of the season?
