[QUOTE=Unregistered;2390485]So I guess all the national experts that ranked UCF head of those teams don't know what they are doing. Accept the reality that UCF has passed ahead of your school.
[/QUOTE Neither of those are my school. However, UCF plays in a substandard conference and racks up easy wins. They are voted in based on the concept of being unbeaten. If they played in a real conference, against comparable programs week in and week out they would be lucky to be mid table at the end. Sorry, reality sucks...

The Power 6 may have a few easier teams but could UF or FSU keep up with UCF’s fiery and speedy offense? I think not this year.

And yes by and large they are better - they're rejects from professional academies and have been training nearly full time since they were 16. They just weren't quite good enough for a decent pro career - although many snag an MLS gigs here. Half the MLS draft this year was international players. If our DA clubs were producing better players they wouldn't be losing out the foreign players and we'd be sending far more kids abroad to play. That has improved somewhat but is still nothing compared to how many foreign players come here for college or MLS.
At some point, the athletic and provost need to dictate to the coach the mission of the college. Is it to win with an all international team or to recruit quality soccer players from the USA and provide them a quality education. There is nothing wrong with a few international players but going out and recruiting an entire roster of international players to win is ridiculous.

Had to have high, high hopes for a living
Shooting for the stars when I couldn't make a killing
Didn't have a dime but I always had a vision
          Always had high, high hopes

Had to have high, high hopes for a living
Didn't know how but I always had a feeling
I was gonna be that one in a million

Once Barry set the bar at winning the national title it has to continue to recruit the finest foreign players. But do D2 coaches really get fired for not taking enough foreign players and having a winning season?

Of course not. They keep their jobs if they win, or at least have decent seasons with no controversies. Sports is very much an afterthought at many schools, especially D2 where they can't make any decent money off the big sports. A winning record is also a way to move up the coaching ladder to bigger jobs. Lots of D2 coaches move into D1, either taking a head coach job at a mid to lower program or the top assistant job at a top program.

How many D2 soccer coaches were fired last year for poor seasons? Other factors are judged like being best buds with the athletic director, how much built the program, or no hazing problems and players graduating.

Many coaches can and do keep their jobs for years with decent records, maybe winning a conference title now and then, being well liked, not having any problems.

Winning with a high percentage of internationals might be frowned upon in the interview for the next step up the ladder.

How many international players were on the FSU women's team that just won the national championship?

Seven out of the twenty-four on the roster. Did the 7 players get to play in the tournament games and were they impact players?

In a hundred years soccer players might be recruited like football players. The coaching staff will have to court the players and parents at their home towns. Wait, is the FSU coaching staff light years ahead flying overseas to recruit players.

International players would cost a university's athletic program. A big portion of the recruiting budget would go to flying over to another country to watch the international players and show them interest. Then it could take a full athletic scholarship to recruit another country's national team player to come study at FSU. Then if there is a language barrier, more money has to be spent on academic tutoring.

Are international players considered juniors in high school and when can they be offered?
