You are lost. With the new PT player rule in the DA any kid can play before or after HS a total of 12 games now with the DA. There’s no rule that prohibits that at all in HS or DA. There will be a ton of kids going back to HS now after the DA showcase and they will now just practice with the DA one or two nights a week along with their other club team. The DA has finally gotten smart and now allows both club full time and DA part time which is more than ECNL does. At ECNL they can’t play with another club like they can with DA now. I guarantee you will see regional and national ODP players staying with their own club and playing part time DA now that they can. There will definitely be more players going the the DA’s now especially national team level players fo sure. I think ECNL will be fine also especially for kids who are at smaller weaker clubs. There’s more than enough good players for both. It will come down to location which is easiest for players I think

My kid gave up gda to play high school , yesterday she told me she made a mistake , so she’ll play out the Hs season and figure it out from there

Please. Ethically they shouldn't take DA players but they're under no obligation whatsoever to follow DA rules. DA rules aren't their rules. Most coaches will take who will help them win. There will be a few who will do the right thing but very few. The only ones violating actual rules are the players, the parents who allow it and the clubs who look the other way.

Some states have restrictions on players doing high school and club at the same time but not here. FL is also unusual in terms of when HS runs - mostly during the DA down period - making it more tempting for DA players to squeeze in HS play. In most of the rest of the country DA active periods and HS run concurrently (fall or spring). Besides the fact that USSF hates HS ball, the main point of the rule is to keep kids from burning out doing both.

Age decision is a biz one. They keep all those players instead of cutting some to make a combined team. That is all it is. Bad for strong players but good for the club bank account. What is good for the bank account always wins.

            100%

Might not have lost those top clubs back to ECNL last year if this was in place.

Not good for funneling the top level players together though.

It's not a new rule, it's always been there. But a PT player has to be in the DA club say on a club's B team to be allowed. They can't be at another club. It's the in the DA rules.

DA has not "gotten smart" on the HS issue and the rules are still the same. They could care less about HS soccer. FL is about the only state that has the HS season at a time when DA is so quiet. Everywhere else school ball and DA are at the same time, so doing HS 5-6 days a week plus DA 5 days/ a wee is a recipe for exhaustion and no time to do homework or have a life.

As for your last statement? No there are not enough players to do both. It's a watered down mess. It's good for the players to have options and go to what works for them. But there's not enough talent or quality coaches to run two quality leagues.

Yes it's all about the money and keeping players out of competitive clubs, in other words market share. Having combined age teams is one of the better things about DA. It challenges the younger players. USSF doesn't care about the players who aren't good enough to make the older squads but the clubs will happily take their checks.

There will be no strong B teams at GDA clubs. There used to be a flow in and out because of the combined ages. In the future if the player is not on the first GDA team then she may never be and should consider playing for another league and even high school if her high school team is above average.

US Soccer decides that US Club Soccer's ECNL platform should have been followed. It was basically taking over ECNL clubs and their elite teams and should have kept single birthyear groups from the get-go.

Just have your kid run track or play lax or field hockey or something. Youth soccer needs to just be flushed down the toilet at this point

Can't say if they will be enforced, but under the new rules for the GDA any FT player who plays HS soccer without a waiver has to be removed from the DA for the remainder of the season. So u18/19 may not matter as much but for the rest if rule is followed would mean they would be out.

Actually they quietly made the rules tougher than last season. When the GDA first started they were going allow players 3 years to play HS (provided not playing DA at the same time) but in the second season abandon that promise and went to the boys rule right away and no HS for anyone and if they play they are out of the DA, unless they have a waiver.

The only girls on our team who are discussing HS are the lower half that play about 40 mins a game , if they leave we’ll do just fine
