    Of course, European clubs marketing their training services (for a fee) to talented American kids isn't limited to Bayern.

    Rest assured--if an American kid is good enough to tantalize European scouts (and there are a few who are); said scouts will come find them no matter where they are. But many "elite" soccer programs are running the same business model as rogue modeling agencies...
    GPS existed before the FCB connection. Anyone I know who has kids with GPS Oregon, specifically, is there because of the coaching. Nobody seems to care about (or put much stock in) the FCB affiliation, aside from the coaching resources - not sure why you do.

      Not poster you are responding to, but 2 questions:

      Is this group in fact losing the GPS connection? Not sure that Bayern is severing their licensing deal with GPS; one of the rumors out there is that GPS is severing the relationship with GPS-Oregon but not Hillsboro.

      If the coaching is so good, why are the records so horrible (outside of the 03 girls)?

      OYSA has the following for every club:
      http://oysa.affinitysoccer.com/tour/...87FD&clubname=

      GPS Oregon OYSA Records (both genders) - 14 wins, 30 losses, 92 GFs, 207 GAs
      03 Girls - 2 wins, 0 losses
      All of their other girls teams - 3 wins, 12 losses

      This is a group that lives and dies by their "rankings", at least when it comes to the 03 girls; but you are going to be hard pressed to find any club in Oregon with a worse record so far this fall. Given the amount of marketing and recruiting they do, that is kind of remarkable.

        The 14 wins and 30 losses seems to be in line with Oregon's ECNL clubs. Thorns DA and Timbers DA won't do much better this year.

        It seems like the main reason why this thread started is because someone wants to create an opportunity to vent about MJ.

          14 wins and 30 losses is in OYSA - not DA or ECNL.

          Otherwise think you are right - MJ has won many friends at other clubs in his short-time here in Oregon.

            Minor note: The acronym "FCB" usually refers to Barcelona, not Bayern.

              People regularly name and shame 12 year old boys on this forum, but use acronyms to protect coaches. It's an odd place this

                MJ is the name he goes goes by. I think it's Michael J, but I forgot. However, if you referred to him as Michael, or whatever his actual first name is, no one in futbol would know who you are talking about.

                it might actually be a good idea for him, later on, when he tries to come around for his second act, to switch to whatever his first name is.

                  Actually, Oregon ECNL clubs are a lot closer to .500 than GPS is as a club. AND the ECNL clubs are playing against the top competition in the country, not Oregon country bumpkins.

                    Hmmm that's false. Oregon ECNL teams are NOT playing the "top competition in the country" they will be playing second tier teams in the NW Region. What you been smoking?

                      Teams playing in the Ecnl league from Oregon are at .200 win pct. some are worse.

                      The wins are coming from ridiculously poor teams that also think they are elite when in all reality they are flying 5 hours and paying 1k per trip to play teams worse then teams 15 minutes away.

                        DA= top NW competition
                        ECNL = solid NW competition
                        OYSA = local club team league that have lost top players to ECNL or DA
                        PSPL = Washington glorified recreational league

                          Top league in the country, and it's not even close. DA is similar to OYSA 2nd division. Just the facts.

                            Nice try. DA is a joke in from NorCal northwards.

                              Even if they were at .200, and they're not, they'd still be 200% better than Thornz Asylum or anything in OYSA.
