Girls will be getting same benefits in DA as the boys when it comes to college placement assistance. Only time will tell what other clubs will be able to offer such a comprehensive package for high school age youth. ECNL does not come close. That's just a league.. it's not a comprehensive program.
Privvy to what? The koolaid? Been there, done that. I would rather spend double on ecnl than crawl back to that garbage. New program? My ass. It's just a new league. Nothing will change. Thorns will not stack up to competition any better than the better Oregon ecnl teams. Thorns were recently outperformed by ecnl just 6-8 weeks ago with their best spanning 2 years while one ecnl club used only a team from one birth year. It all on got soccer, rosters too.

Thorns will dish up whatever flavor you like.

You can spend 10K for garbage, that's your choice and privilege. All the best.

We've been there. So have so many amazing Oregon players. Thorns is junk. Their track record is solid proof. TAs have better recruitment results than they do.

        Whatever. Enjoy the koolaid.

No dog in the fight, if you want to spend 10K a year for your kid to be part of the neighborhood club, that's your choice. It's a decision you have made, they need more people to think they way you do. All the best.

10k a year isn't about being in a neighborhood club. There are plenty of other cheaper options for neighborhood play though. :) all the best to you!

Thornz Asylum isn't even good enough to play neighborhood rec soccer. And they still charge over $2K per year and provide the worst coaching in Oregon. But the lemmings and cavemen love it because they worship GW.

Real world experience will get you to asst manager way faster than college.
Assistant manager is the first step to a bigger paycheck as everyone knows.

If you want to spend 2000 to a proven crap program and can't get into another decent program, that is your choice. They need you. All the best.

Why does it bother you so much that other players choose to play for the Thorns? You sound really angry and bitter. No need to disparage other players or teams not to your liking. It's their money, time and effort. None of your business. Get a life.

Can't argue with this. Need to move up to make more coin.

In general ECNL parents are bitter that they have invested so much in a program that just got demoted to second tier. They need GDA to fail to maintain their status quo. It's really sad that any parent of a female athlete wouldn't be supportive of GDA. It's high time that girls got the same quality program as the boys, we should all be rallying behind it.

I don't think they are bothered that much. I think they are probably laughing (not angry or bitter) at someone else who just sucked at blasting their choice. They were defending themselves and you interjected; so really you should be the one that needs to get a life and mind your own business.

Wow. How's that koolaid tasting? You do realize everything you just spouted looks like bizarre jibberish to so many amazing players Thorns lost, right? And probably to countless others. If you don't get that, I assure you, you look like an absolute, very naive parent. But it's okay! A lot of us were you at one point. ;)

Not bitter and for the last 3 years ECNL was awesome and I am glad my daughter is out of Oregon soccer because it is a mess right now. Go back and read the ECNL hate posts for the last 3 years and talk about parents not supporting ECNL because it was the only game in town. In fact, you had club directors sending emails begging players not to play in the most competitive league in the country. You make a great statement that it is high time the girls get the same quality program as the girls, but why are the girls being charged 5x more than the boys

As long as ECNL fields teams in Oregon and the girls have a DA choice then none of the teams will be very good. For now (across the country) ECNL will still be top dog because most turned down DA and are staying with ECNL and girls can still play HS.

It may be 4x as much as boys ($2k vs $500) but it's also 4x less than ECNL ($2k vs $8k).
DA is US Soccer's fully compressive national program for the top youth in the country. ECNL is a league that local clubs enroll teams in for games. There is a huge difference here.
