    Timbers cheat/using ODP

Breaking news. The Thorns haven't posted their U15 roster yet because as we speak, they are using ODP in Eugene to continue to try to persuade additional players who didn't try out for GDA to leave their clubs and sign with them. This from the same organization that wrote an email last week claiming that others were engaging in unethical recruiting practices and they (Timbers/Thorns) were going to draft rules and punitive sanctions to enforce.

    Total Hypocricy.

    WAKE UP DOCs!

This is like an MLS coach complaining that a scout from Real Madrid is checking out his players. It's one thing when one local pay-to-play club tries to steal players from another, but THIS IS A STEP UP THE F---ING PYRAMID. Only a selfish ass of a club coach would try to keep his players out of GDA.

Certain clubs like the to think they are, or should be, equivalent to the Timbers. They're not.

ODP parent here and can confirm this is true. Lots of outrage among parents. DOC's will be getting calls in the morning if not sooner.

Dummy. This is not a matter of selfish coaches trying to hold back kids. It's a matter of kids who chose not to try out for academy for whatever reason (financial, travel, HS sports, other interests)...and those kids going to an ODP training session expecting to actually receive the training they paid for, and instead being forced to listen to an academy infomercial telling them their soccer careers will be ruined if they don't do academy.

If your product is that good, you shouldn't need to beg or bully kids to try it. No class.

Be happy. GDA should be fun & those 03s that are getting recruited didn't even have to try out or pay $125. Not bad.

              Really?

Which part of an over promised under performing program should be fun?

Getting killed by quality competition that can't be avoided? Getting results if able to schedule mediocre opponents? Traveling and not playing? Missing out on HS soccer? Failing to develop under...oh wait, who is the coach? Hmmm.

Again. It's the Timbers trying to create circumstances and rules that benefit them, instead of providing the product that would make them a viable choice in a fairly run, open marketplace.

As I said before, if you have a quality product you shouldn't have to beg or bully people into joining.

It's a matter of selfish DoCs who think that if it weren't for the meddling Timbers and their dumb dog too, that their yuppie club would be on the level of Surf or Sting.

Sorry folks, but the Portland market—nay, all of OYSA—isnt big enough for multiple first class academies. Only one local club comes close, and that club is part of the Timbers' Alliance.

And if you think a presentation at ODP camp constitutes "bullying", cry me a river.

All the local clubs are begging..free rides...bullying..pay now or lose your spot.

USDA isn't the same animal as a local club and only has to follow the rules set forth by US Soccer...local clubs aren't that distinction and must be transparent and serve their membership... thats were all the confusion comes in the DA is not a the local club... if you make that mistake you come up with all these other issues but don't apply DA program but do apply to a club... like others have said it sucks to be the local Club in this current landscape the big boys in the da get a do whatever they want and all you can do is cry about it

                      Read before you post

The original post noted the Timbers complained about clubs being unethical in recruiting practices. This in an email from Mike Smith to local clubs. So this is about the duplicity of the Timbers and the fact that despite all the money and the positional advantage they have, they still back door the clubs because the Timbers can't figure out how to produce a quality product.

More unethical behavior from the Timbers levereging conflicts of interest. Clubs should boycot ODP.

GDA, just like DA recruits. They want the best players and will
Reach out to get them. Outrage comes from the parents who's little girls are not being recruited who don't want to lose the talent on the team. Have you read this? Did you go to either info night and ask questions? This is going to be an amazing program!

ODP is not a good program anymore.

For profit corporation is not helpful in youth sports.
