This is a bad situation for FSPL. With clubs putting their best teams in DA, ECNL and Region III leagues it leaves FSPL with a clubs 2nd or 3rd best teams. Add the FYSA debacle on “no reschedules” and many clubs are looking to NPL-Florida for the next best option. This leaves FSPL with few teams. I can’t imagine many clubs want to travel state wide for their lower level teams. I have not heard anything on what the FSPL is going to do; the lack of information has to be worrisome for clubs that were counting on that league for play. I would guess that instead of not having a certain age group that they would be combining age groups to make it work.

There are many clubs and players without access to DA, GDA, ECNL, SRPL, etc... These players on many clubs' first teams will find there way into NPL and FSPL. Then of course is the next tier of local leagues.

NPL-FPL has combined U18-19 age group for girls, and they allow only one team per club, so if your club has a U18 team and a U19 team (as ours does), only one can play NPL-FPL, leaving the other to play for FSPL or whatever other leagues are out there. Seems the more leagues there are, the more diluted the talent in each league. That's a shame. I liked it better when everyone played each other, and there was a true State Champion.

          Is anyone home at FYSA?

Another day passes and still no list of participating teams in FSPL.

          What could they be hiding?

Unfortunately, in the grand scheme, it's no longer about development and competition. It's a money game. America the beautiful?

Our coach said that we may have to just play tournaments this year. Apparently FYSA may not have FSPL this year and is floating the idea of teams to playing down in local FYSA leagues. No decision will be made until the annual meeting in August. No news until then because the coaches and DOC's are concerned kids will jump ship and try to change clubs.

With ECNL now adding boys and years of poor management, FYSA no must pay the piper.

True that. And now they are just making it worse by refusing to communicate. We heard this too, although our DOC says that they are also considering combining age groups. DOC says that bottom line is the FYSA knew this was going to be a problem prior to the application deadline and did not advise the clubs for fear that they would go elsewhere. Our DOC also indicated in an e-mail that efforts by FYSA to recruit new clubs to the league have failed, but FYSA won't publicly admit it.

It will get worse before it gets better if it gets better at all. Quality coaches and players moving to other leagues. Ref quality taking a nosedive. Crappy scheduling in State Cup. Extending roster lock dates and turning a blind eye so clubs can their ECNL ringers to the roster for State Cup or even Disney. Meh.... Happy not to have deal with it anymore.

Waiting until the annual meeting on August 12th does not seem realistic since most leagues start the following 2 weeks on the 19th and 26th..

Agreed FYSA needs to get its act together . However don't see USClub soccer as our white knight . I mean Florida Cup probably the worst run tourney in the State . The rest of their leagues are monopolies if your club is a member of ECNL or NPL well doesn't matter how crap your team is they can play .it appears that the goal of US Cub soccer is to destroy all but a dozen clubs in Florida .
Finally DA and GDA good luck to you top 1% but please try to remember where you started playing all those years ago .

I believe USClub has another statewide league for teams that are not in NPL-Florida. Called FPL perhaps? If they are smart they are soliciting teams to pick up the mess left by FSPL.

The FPL became the Florida NPL last year . US Club soccer is as it's name suggest a club based organization . Only teams from their member clubs , I believe there are 12 , in Florida can participate .

I know this isn't what's happening, but its almost like the people who run these leagues hate the sport. If there was one sure way to stop the advance of soccer in this country it is to split up the talent so that the best cannot compete against the best on a regular basis. These people need to step back and look at the big picture.
