Staples plays starters or top 15-16 for tough games. Those players then do not play more than a few minutes or at all against the Trinity Catholics, Bridgeport Central, Stamford or Trumbull.

My daughter's team had 22 during the regular season which was way too many. It allowed the coach to run 11 v 11 scrimmages at practice but a bunch of girls barely played in real games. To compound it, the coach called up JV players for the playoffs and some of them got more time than varsity players. If the JV players were better than the varsity players, wouldn't that have been apparent after the four day tryouts?

Staples has one senior star and the rest are good players who can hold down the fort against Greenwich, Ludlowe, New Canaan and Westhill once the starters set the pace with a few easy goals. These girls will play full games against Central, Norwalk, Stamford and Trinity. Kudos to the coach for not cutting them and allowing them to be part of a great team. They could be wearing state championship rings in a few months.

Exhibit 1

One of the reasons B.B. is a douche. Read the first few paragraphs. Second game of the season and his best player has both knees and an ankle heavily iced after the game. The girl would end up blowing out the acl 3 days later in the season in a non contact injury. How do you over use a young girl in the second game of the season! Multiple scrimmages during preseason, Manchester United fitness test bs for high school girls coming of summer....we ain’t talking professionals here Barry...would like to see his results on the test. Barry.....when is a soccer player going to sprint 300 yards? Why make that part of the fitness test?
Exhibit 2
One thing you shouldn’t do if she is that physically banged up is play her in a 12-1 win over Trinity Catholic in the season opener. Second thing is you probably shouldn’t be running up the score and scoring 12 goals vs Trinity Catholic. You still want to tell me the top 15 staples girls will only play a few minutes vs Trinity and the bottom of the roster all did that damage? Shall we go back and pull up the box score?
