The 4-4-2 works for dump and chase attacking (which most HS's default to) and defensively match up with numbers up against most formations they will see while keeping the team shape simple in and out of transition and balanced against counter attacks.

It isn't rocket science and honestly, why try to play possessive soccer, build from back, and be creative through the mid-field when half your starting 11 can't connect a 10 or 15 yard push pass to the correct foot or have no first touch.

As to playing your best players down the spine, I agree, to an extent defensively and offensively, but playing your best midfielders "in the middle" may be counter-productive if the team bypasses the middle most of the game and your middies are really either 10's or 6's.
Most HS teams don't keep their shape anyway as you get into the game, except perhaps along the back 4. The 4-4-2 as you note works well, especially if you have a speedy/physical forward so you can dump it onto the flanks and you need some speed/smarts on the in the center middies to fill zones. But honestly, many chances come from set pieces or just off set pieces (swarming def in attacking zone to goal kicks, smart throw-in).

HS Coaches are better off working on those more than anything else..

Saw both Prout and NK are building turf fields..now Prout won't have the worse D1 field..

Wow, do you complain to your coach if the numbers assigned to the starters don't conform to the traditional "role" assignment too?

If the GK gets All State with 44 saves on the year, yes the year, you can consider All State in RI All Sham. Probably made 2 good saves all year. Had 2 total saves in the final. Wow.
              Horrible teammate as well.

Typical RI soccer parent. Keepers aren’t judged on shot blocking and “saves”
Foot skills, distribution and setting the defense are more important.
Bad form to call a kid a bad teammate. Congratulate the kid and move on to basketball.

If you haven't received a call you are not on the list. Let's leave it at that. Congrats to all. Well deserved!

I think the Projo was spot on. There is always one or two that are debatable. I am sure a few coaches helped out. Possibly LaSalle...lol

It’s not an accomplishment for LaSalle or Hendricken to win RI state championships or for their players to make all state teams. It’s like the Baltimore Orioles winning the AAA World Series and all of their players making the AAA all star team. Big deal.

It’s okay to say you don’t know.

Aaaaaand she can't do any of that either. Foot skills? Ha. Doesn't take own goal kicks. Ha. Wouldn't know how to set a defense if she had a manual in front of her.

Bad teammate? Yes if you knew all the details.

Probably not; been debated ad nauseam on this site so nothing will change. LaSalle has no incentive - both cost and reputation - to play in an independent league and soccer is not significant enough in the state for RIIL/principals to take action (unlike football). RIIL could at least get the divisions/alignment right, but probably not in that area either.

Maybe RIIL will add FIFA soccer 2019 as a competitive sport so publics have a shot..

It is a bit ironic the probable 2xRI POY is not from RI though..

the part as a parent with a kid who went to LaSalle (on the boys side) I do find laughable is the denial about the recruiting and taking advantage of the lack of oversight - maybe it is more on the boys side.
