They usually have 2 or 3 teams at the oldest age group that get combined/cut down into their eventual academy team at u12.

All of that being said, it's a giant funnel. They bring kids in from all over the region (and outside - see Caden Clark) to join their academy. Your kid has to be not just good to make it further in their system. It's extremely hard to get a spot on a preacademy team, but they give you time (2 years) to develop. If even harder to get and maintain an academy spot (which is fully funded).

Ok so then, how did they form teams for the current 2011/2010 kids? Were there tryouts or did they take over a bunch of Centercourt kids/teams? So you're saying none of the current 2010 kids will be cut going into academy level since they haven't been together for 2 years, yet?

Kids typically get 2 years in their system regardless unless they are later additions prior to academy. It's not auto entry into academy if your kid gets in at u11. They have tryouts every year. What that person is saying is that if the kid makes it at u10, they usually get a spot for u11. Keep in mind what the person said was true - there are 3 teams (north, south, and NY) and there is a 3 stage tryout process to get on a team. All of that being said, a lot of kids come and go in the academy. An MLS academy is literally the top of the soccer pyramid in the US, so you can imagine it's tough.
Centercourt? That's just one of many affiliate clubs they run, but there isn't some kind of conduit where they transfer teams from those clubs to their preacademy/academy. They are run completely separately. Red Bulls doesn't need to take teams from other clubs.

Does the girls side have academy teams? What leagues do they play in? Thinking about bringing my daughter to the tryout.

They play everyone instead of just those who physically develop faster. Your kid won't sit the bench just because they haven't grown as fast as another kid. They are more concerned with finding the next Tyler Adams than winning games at preacademy and academy levels. They'll push your kid up as far as they can go based on ability. Getting cut after 2 years doesn't make your kid bad, and they can try to make it again later if things change. They even try to place your kid at other clubs with teams/coaches they know. The coaches are very qualified and are good at developing talent. 100% recommended even if your kid doesn't stay after preacademy.

The web site looks like 2011 boys can try out.
If a 2011 boy makes it, do they have 2 years to make the next step or only one?
