Everyone definitely needs to look out for their own kid. The clubs have no loyalty to the players and the parents shouldn't have any loyalty to the clubs.

The parents are absolutely unrealistic and unreasonable in today’s environment, constantly pumping up their own kid as if they are the next D1 star. In a nutshell what is wrong with the game today. Coaches have a really tough time dealing with clueless soccer parents.

The coaches are to blame for setting expectations too high.

Yes some are clueless and think their kids are much better than they are, but most are just interested in finding the right fit for their kid. Most wouldn't move their kid if they knew their kid is 16-22 on a coach's ranking, but many clubs aren't exactly forthcoming about where their kid would fit on the roster. A little frankness would go a long way to curb movement, but it's bad for business.

Well said. Honesty is not part of the business model in youth soccer.

The parents are the customer. I have no sorrow for any of these coaches. They get paid to deal with the parents. Youth soccer is a business and we parents pay a lot of money and yes we have high expectations. Whether or not our kids are at the level we think they are we want the most value for our money

The coaches are pressured by the club owners to not speak the truth. They're expected to deliver the wins which begets more customers. Many are hog tied by management to not speak the truth and take a few extra players that don't belong. Coaches don't get paid much, especially given what they have to deal with from parents, and often have another job to help pay the bills. Yes some are idiots, but in this environment it's no wonder plenty don't stay in the profession long. Three of the best coaches my three kids had left for other professions and a 4th got the hell out and into the college game asap.

Again, Boo Hoo for these coaches. They chose their profession. We parents pay $2-3k a year for soccer. If they can't deal with the parents then quit. I really don't care nor should any paying parent
