If your daughter has a great game at a showcase in front of dozens of evaluators, it may be all you need. And ECNL will provide more opportunity for this than DA.
Again- if RANDOM interest is what you are seeking , I think you are making a big mistake. The ECNL has misled some ito thinking the platform is getting the kids recruited. The majority of kids get themselves recruited. Same way they did before the ECNL existed.
Eliminate the very top kids - who EVERY coach in the country knows. those kids dont have to do anything except pick a school. Almost everyone else should be coming up with a list of schools that fits their profile and writing letters. Camps are a matter of preference. get the coaches to come and watch you play.
My feeling on this flawed parent thinking is that most mcannot handle hearing hta tMia is worth less thtn they think she should be. If you list schools , you force yourself to take a hard look at realistic options OR face rejection. Much more palatable to "hope" some random coach offers you a spot so it validates your opinion of Mia.
Dont fall for it.
ECNL, GDA, NPL it really does not matter IF you take control of your process. IF you are leaving it to random eyeballs, then sure ECNL may offer more eyes, but ask yourself - how many of those eyes are going to randomly notice you ?

also - the above poster is 100%. Kids get themselves recruited. Showcases (and on campus camps) simply give them a venue to show their skills. Coaches don't go to events to window shop - they go with a long list of players who have reached out prior to the event and who might be a good fit for the program.

It just might take a few years for that to happen, and I think some clubs are struggling with talent while others seem to be doing fine. Most kids who've already started the recruiting process won't need to move (college coaches know it's a questionable venture). Certainly if you're already recruited you'd only go to GDA because it appeals to you and you don't care about HS

I fully agree that long term GDA will almost certainly end up being the place to be, but for right now, if you are U16 and up you are almost certainly better off remaining on your existing team if it is highly ranked and showcasing on a regular basis. Assuming of course that you do your homework, contact coaches, etc.

1. In some cases the GDA team WILL BE the old ECNL teeam.
2. If the team is highly ranked , then surely it is made up of highly regarded players? If so, they are already being watched, no matter who they play for
3. Colleges recruit players, not teams
4. What does showcasing well even mean? If it means that coaches from good schools are watching, its because they are watching specific player(s). if player moves. so will the coaches
5. If a well regarded coach moves to GDA ( and several have/are) the College relationships will still be there
Bottom line, you are just wrong in your assessment. The reality is the people who look at it this way are probably not parents of kids who are at good Clubs or well educated in recruiting. if you write to a coach and express interest, they will usually respond . If what you want are teh spam , unsolicited emails and requests , then honestly, IF your kid is really talented, you have been getting those for a long time. If she is not getting that from your current Club, then maybe its the wrong Club. If she is getting attention and she moves Club, not much will change.
ECNL or NPL or GDA are NOT going to get you recruited. They are not going to help you get recruited. They are all capable of providing you a platform to showcase YOURS skills.
Take ownerrshipmand responsibilty for it and levae nothing to chance IF you want to give yourself the best chance. its no t the league, its the platers ability and at times persistnece
its a simple distribution. there are a few 9+ player a few more 8s and a load between 5-7 .There is a College spot for almost all of them involving soccer if you want it. Aim realistically and focus. Forget the distractions of random events. The majority of your kids fall in the 5-8 range

What do people make of the latest announcements with Hofstra and affiliations with their coaches? Have they announced team coaches for the various age groups? I keep hearing they are having a hard time attracting players and may not actually field teams this fall if they don't get the quality and numbers they need.

ECNL - Competitive platform
GDA - Developmet platform
The fact that US parents thing games > development is fine, but thats the issue. Not "better" league.
Majority of parents dont understand development, could not tell if their kids is actually getting better or not. They judge everything based on the result of the game.
GDA will struggle on LI especially becasue that community has no patience at all. ECNL probably better suited to LI for that reason
