Very nice fields. Good organization. Decent turnout of college scouts. Parking a little rough, but to be expected. Overall nice weekend. Well done.

Parking? Sufficient, but only 1 way in/out. Heavy traffic during the day when games end and new players arriving.
Facilities? Increase the number of toilets (porta-potties) around the fields, plus some decent food trucks and you are golden.
Surrounding area? Plenty of hotels and restaurants. Right near I-75 and SR-60. Tampa airport less than 20 minutes. Super easy for travel.

More porta-potties is also an easy fix.
With better parking/traffic flow and more food options onsite it would be idea for any large tournament.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostYes, unfortunately that happens at tournaments. Clubs need to select the best division for their teams. But the organizers have no control over that. It happens at all soccer levels.
However the tournament director had A LOT/EVERYTHING to do with who played in what divisions and in what age groups. IJS

Overall, a nice tournament. No one drove away pissed or screaming "never again," which is what normally happens.

Of course, they could limit the teams based upon a particular ranking, similar to CASL or Jeff Cup, but CDL is not that kind of tournament. Now once registered, yes, the tournament should be assigning teams to the correct divisions. However, if the tournament is using something like GotSoccer, then you never know what can happen. For example, my child's team is newly created at her club, mixed age groups, so the GotSoccer points are near zero. The team played in Division 1 against other teams ranked in the top 10. Those teams had a difficult time getting more than 2 passes together. Not hyping my child's team or dissing their team, just simply stating that there is no true way to properly "rank" a team when assigning a bracket.

I agree....for the first time using that facility I thought the tournament was organized well. Using Gotsoccer ranking is sometimes like pulling names/numbers out of a hat at times. It can definitely be hit or miss.

I was simply trying to compliment the tournament and avoid the typical TS fight. Very seldom does something in youth soccer go as promised. We paid for a tournament and got what we paid for. It was organized, safe, and on fields in good condition. Coaches listed on the website were there, plus some. Competition was not the greatest, but no one sold us on that expectation. 3 games, 2 days. All delivered. Fun weekend for the players. Parents were smiling and I only heard complaints about the traffic and bathrooms. But if that's what people are moaning about, it means that everything else is fine. Overall good job. Hopefully it can be repeated. We'll be back.
I can definitely say that we all got what we paid for. Good fields, decent college coach turnout, and a great location for people traveling anywhere in Florida or out of state. I know our 03 girls team will be back next year. If they fix the minor issues they had (parking, food, and bathrooms) and promote this showcase properly it could be a nice showcase for non ECNL and non DA kids. IMO it was more enjoyable then the Disney Showcase at Thanksgiving.
