High school soccer isn't great. But it's more about the love of the sport and being social and enjoying your teens.

The best players in the state played high school in 2018.

Nike sponsored interviews of the women's national team players before the last world cup. Almost all of them said their favorite memory in soccer was winning a state championship or beating their cross town rival.

High school sports often times produce great memories many call them glory days and people recite songs about it.

People you reference never had the opportunity to play any women's DA something the elite players have always wanted a platform to play against the best it's here so your point is irrelevant.

That's truly sickening if this has any truth because there were teams getting beat by margins of 8 and 10 goals that's our 'best' Then high school and club soccer have finally reached the exact same level in Oregon recreational crapp

It’s more than just high school soccer is fun. It’s also that thorns academy isn’t attracting the best players so there isn’t a reason for other top players who’d be willing to forego hs ball to switch to Thorns. ***c, FCSC, Salem players, ecnl players, etc have all committed to colleges as good or better than Thorns players so there is no big carrot to play Thorns - even if they allowed hs play. Now, if USSF had started GDA back when they started the boys DA, they wouldn’t be in this situation.

Yes most of the best girls in the state want to play high school soccer. It's dumb. The crowds of family and peers cheering you on and playing with the kids you grew up with. It's bad.

We need to get the good players to quit high school so they can play on a lonely pitch in front of three people and a stray dog. That is where the great times and happiness are. Not having the football team come cheer you on. Winning a state championship is for losers.

These laughable best HS players are victims of 10-0 drubbing at the hands of a decent HS Jesuit every week.

People are not cheering for you, they feel sorry that you play in HS and get your @$$$ whipped by other average girls.

                    It's funnier than hell.

But you do provide some sick and twisted entertainment for teenage boys while getting slaughtered on the field.

                    Got it.

Clackamas Mountainside Sherwood Sunset would all drop 8 goals on any DA team.

Of course, there's a chicken and egg problem here. Many MLS acadmies are lousy, and don't produce sufficient talent to justify their expense. OTOH, until more money is spent on the academies, they will remain lousy. Iceland has about half the population of Washington County but had a world cup team. They spend lots of money on training and coaching. The top club in Washington County (Westside) regularly has to hold fundraisers at Chipotle.

With the exception of a few scholarship players, the clubs are pay for play so it would be difficult to ask for training compensation if you have already charged the family.
