GDA expansion plans would be the only way they get it and I agree above that GDA is already too big for what it's trying to accomplish. Last thing we need is more clubs in this area. There are other parts of the country that need beefing up before NE does.
USSF could care less about where ECNL clubs are located. Over 30 clubs left ECNL for GDA, so GDA is well on its way to being the top dog. And you know more clubs will be added down the road. Just look at the growth of the boys academy as an example. The girls will not be outdone!

Also, given the results on the boys side I wouldn't be holding that up as an example of greatness. Making GDA bigger isn't the answer. We'll just end up with a watered down mess.

They have a pro path, free tuition at 1/3 of the clubs. On the girls side plenty of players will be staying in ECNL, including many top players. If GDA becomes #1 it will take time and will vary by area. Around here ECNL will remain solid - partly because OW is weak. Players/families are happy with kids making good academic school squads in New England, a pro path doesn't even register with them, ECNL competition is still good, OW and its coaching isn't a draw. Also, some clubs have dropped out of GDA to stay in ECNL - they see a different picture of where this is going.

Also, GDA pro-sponsored academies will be free-to-play - so our top players will be selected on skills, not on whether mommy and daddy can write the big check.

You have some MLS clubs, most NWSL clubs and the USSF all behind it in an effort to make it work. And it will likely be the case that over time, most all players in the national team pool will be selected from GDA.....so from a quality stand point GDA will rule and college coaches (looking for the top talent) will naturally follow. ECNL will be relegated to Tier II status in the pecking order.
