If your kid doesn't figure a way to let employers know they were a high level athlete, shame on them.

That's not what I mean. Putting on your resume that you were part of a national contender and just wearing the shirt are two separate things.

There are recruiting companies that target athletes because employers like them.

They don't worry about getting in to places like Harvard or Yale. They don't have to. It's the parents of "bubble" prospects who do all of the worrying.
All I was saying is that sometimes prestige does matter. OK, BTNT?

BTNT, you worry lot more than they do, but it's quaint that you have such genuine interest in persons less fortunate than yourself.

Just the way things work in the real world. Some here may quibble over whether a MD or JD from one school or the other is better but in the end it functionally doesn't really matter because winners will always be successful.
I'm going to mostly agree with you on this one, BTNT. Remember the FSU football player who was a high NFL draft pick who is at Harvard Med?

Wish ID Camp Invites Weren’t So Scammy

It’s that time of year when college coaches dangle the opportunity for your player to be seen by their programs. Even the fake personalized ones are hard to decode.

                    - Be realistic. Could your kid REALLY play there?
                    - Use your club coach to suss out fit and make phone calls.

The value of any degree and the institution it came from carries about 5 minutes of utility in a capitalist model job. Always be wary of a Stanford type graduate who shouts about Stanford but lands in a new job every 2 years. That's about the gestation period of discovering a sham.

And no, a bottom level CS graduate from Stanford absolutely, positively does not carry more weight than a top of class CS graduate from FSU, UMass, PSU, etc. I hire them all the time. But thank you for the cheese flavored conclusion.
